3 Captivating Truths Behind Unfrosted Movie

These days, people have many different options when they are looking for something to eat for breakfast or even just a tasty snack throughout the day. One trendy breakfast food is the Pop-Tart. Furthermore, the origin of the Pop-Tart is the focus of the movie Unfrosted, starring actor Jerry Seinfeld.

In addition to acting in it, Seinfeld had a hand in writing the script, and he also directed the film. However, while some of what the viewers will see when they watch the film is accurate, that is not the case for the entire movie.

Nevertheless, that does not make the truth about how Pop-Tarts were created less interesting. For example, the way that Pop-Tarts are packaged is inspired by how some dog food is packaged. The creation of the Pop-Tart, which was invented in the 1960s, is a fascinating tale involving competition, an important announcement that changed the breakfast food industry, other minor issues, and lots of success.

The Original Version of the Pop-Tart Had A Different Name

There was quite a revolution in the world of breakfast foods around the time the Pop-Tart was invented, and the company Post decided that they wanted to pursue creating a pastry that one could heat up and eat quickly. Once they created those pastries, they called them Country Squares. Country Squares came in several different flavors, including strawberry and blueberry.

An Announcement Changed Things

One of Posts’ biggest competitors was Kellogg’s, and when that company made an announcement about their revolutionary new product, Kellogg’s wasted no time coming up with their own version of it. That is something that the movie Unfrosted, which is coming to Netflix in May, might touch on since the plot is about those two companies competing with one another. Kellogg’s called its version of the product Fruit Scones.

The Original Ones Were Unfrosted

Also, in the early days of Pop-Tarts, there was no frosting. But that changed in 1967. Consumers could then purchase frosted versions of the popular pastry in flavors that included Dutch apple, Concord grape, and a couple of others. Today, there are many different flavors for one to choose from when they are purchasing Pop-Tarts.

The time during which Pop-Tarts came to be the product many know and love was a busy one for the breakfast food industry. The popularity of this pastry grew rapidly, and the company changed the name of the product to what consumers know it as today as a reference to the pop art that Andy Warhol was putting out at the time.

Even though some people are obsessed with other-the-top food containers, many still love the pastry that comes wrapped in tin foil. Also, Jerry Seinfeld is not the only well-known face viewers will see in Unfrosted. Christian Slater, Amy Schumer, Jim Gaffigan and several other famous entertainers are also in it.
