At any time of year, ski towns can be great places to go for a vacation. You do not have to ski to have a terrific time in these locations. In a ski town, find what will make your visit enjoyable for you. There are numerous options for both relaxation and physical activity. However, if you do enjoy skiing, ski towns are wonderful travel destinations. As winter travel time approaches, consider the amazing skiing opportunities these towns can offer. The skiing season is getting started. This moment is a wonderful time to experience the joy for yourself. In general, when thinking about places for a mountain getaway, consider ski towns.

Ski Towns to Enjoy Before Ski Season Gets Going

According to AFAR, “ski towns don’t only exist when the snow is flying.” Even when skiing is not available, there is fun to be had. Girdwood, Alaska, for example, has hiking trails available when ski trails are not yet open.  In Girdwood, many hikers choose a two-mile path up Mount Alyeska’s North Face. The Bore Tide Deli and Bar is located at the end of this hike. The Aerial Tram offers hikers a ride back down at no charge. If you would like to unwind, check out the Alyeska Nordic Spa.

Another ski town offering a plethora of activities besides skiing is Aspen, Colorado. The city of Aspen is in the Rocky Mountains. AFAR describes Aspen’s location as “in the celestial beauty of Roaring Fork Valley.” Hiking out to the Maroon Bells mountain peaks is a worthwhile activity.

The summer is a particularly good time for this hike. There is a lake located by the Maroon Bells. While hiking, you can glimpse the lovely reflection of the mountain peaks in this lake. Perhaps you are interested in contemporary art. If so, take in an exhibition at the Aspen Art Museum. Along with its art collection, the museum features a rooftop café offering stunning mountain views.

Winter Travel for Wonderful Early Skiing

Planning winter travel can involve finding ski slopes early in the skiing season. December can be a great time to head to the slopes without crowds. Consider Park City, Utah, as a December ski destination. According to OnTheSnow, “skiers can’t go wrong in Utah, especially early in the season.” Two recommended ski resorts in Park City are Deer Valley and Park City Mountain. The atmosphere around the holidays in Park City is particularly festive.

For skiing in December, you can also consider Vermont. Jay Peak is a Vermont skiing location you can try. OnTheSnow suggests: “Jay Peak is a natural pick on the East Coast for early-season skiing.” Jay Peak is noted for the amount of snow it generally receives each year.

The Jay Peak ski resort is also particularly recommended for families. There are many ski trails to choose from at Jay Peak. OnTheSnow states: “The resort has 50 miles of trails.” This location offers options for people with varied skiing interests.

Overview of Ski Town Vacation Options

Perhaps the beginning of this year’s ski season is beckoning. If so, you can get excited about possibilities for winter travel plans. There are many fantastic locations for early-season skiing vacations. Jay Peak in Vermont is one possible place to try. This snowy locale offers skiing variety. In Utah, Park City is another amazing location. Well-known resorts offer a hearty welcome to skiing vacationers. There are ski towns that abound with a variety of enticing attractions. Aspen, Colorado, and Girdwood, Alaska, for instance, are both skiing destinations. They are also both great for hiking and other fun activities. Each season in a ski-related destination can offer opportunities to make travel memories.
