Top 3 Songs on the Billboard Hot 100: Week of 11/9

Apple Music. Billie Eilish

The balance has shifted again for the Billboard Top 3 this week. Shaboozey has returned to the top as Billie Eilish holds strong in the number 3 slot. However, we’ve seen some unexpected changes for the number 2 position. Morgan Wallen has been bumped from the top down to number 8. So, what’s going on here? Well, we think we have an idea. So, grab a snack and come along as we discuss the music trends for this week’s Billboard Top 3.

Top Billboard 3: Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish‘s “Birds of a Feather” holds steadfast for the third week at number 3. It’s a romantic anthem that preaches the idea of staying together no matter what. The song has been speculated to describe Eilish’s former partner, Jesse Rutherford, but that hasn’t been confirmed. Eilish’s album containing the song, Hit Me Hard and Soft cycles through many emotions. Eilish has stated that it was written about many people in her life, which is why it sounds so personal.

The track also resonates with the everyday listener. It’s a beautiful love song, which is certainly relatable for anyone who feels they’ve found the right person. The typical trend with the Billboard charts is that the songs that hit the hardest rank high for the longest time. Unsurprisingly, this beautiful, 80s-sounding gem stands tall at number 3 with no signs of dropping. It’s safe to say that Eilish has a true long-lasting hit here.

Top Billboard 2: Die With a Smile by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars

“Die With a Smile” is a new addition to the Billboard Top 3 this week. However, it’s been on the rise for quite a while now. The track has been steadily climbing the charts since its release in August. Although Lady Gaga never really left the spotlight, her new era is huge. The popularity of this duet with Bruno Mars alongside her latest single, “Disease” has listeners turning their heads once more. Gaga was also cast for the role of Harley Quinn in the new Todd Phillips film, Joker: Folie a Deux. All eyes seem to be back on our ‘Mother Monster’.

Meanwhile, Bruno Mars is celebrating two Billboard victories this week. While “Die With a Smile” is number 2, his song with Rose, “APT.“, is charting at number 13. Many fans speculate that Gaga revived Mars’ career with their duet, skyrocketing him back into the public eye. No matter what the cause, though, the effect is undeniable. “Die With a Smile” is a gorgeous love song that rivals even Eilish’s colorful lyrics. It’s well deserving of the number 2 spot.

Top Billboard 1: Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey

Our king, Shaboozey has returned to the number 1 spot this week. His song, “Bar Song (Tipsy)” is too powerful to keep down. Last week, Morgan Wallen stole the spotlight with his track, “Love Somebody” after Shaboozey’s 15-week run at number 1. Not anymore! This fantastic emulation of J-Kwon‘s 2004 hit, “Tipsy” is too beloved to leave the top. Shaboozey continues to combine hip-hop, country, and pop with a fresh and unique sound. Plus, you can’t hate the guy.

Shaboozey hails from Virginia as the next generation from his Nigerian parents. As a black country artist, his rise to fame wasn’t easy. However, his casual and genuine energy brings in fans from across the globe. He acts like a person on stage rather than a character, and that’s why so many people relate to him. He’s often seen taking swigs from a bottle of Jack Daniels on stage. It’s a stark reminder that life is hard and we can all use a drink sometimes, even celebrities.

In Conclusion

The shift in the Billboard Top 3 this week is unexpected but not overwhelming. Billie Eilish and Shaboozey have been powerful forces on the charts lately. We can expect to see them hold the line. However, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars in the number 2 spot is a pleasant surprise. After all, the ‘Mother Monster’ is in another era. It’s great to see Mars re-entering the spotlight too, with Gaga but also with Rose. Maybe we’ll even see a new solo album from him soon. However, the chips may fall next week; these artists have worked hard to earn their Billboard positions. Time will only tell if they stay or go.
