Top 3 Songs on the Billboard Hot 100: Week of 10/12

We’re seeing some long-awaited change in the Billboard Top 3 this week. Pop giants, Sabrina Carpenter and Post Malone have finally dropped to the fourth and fifth-place slots this week to make room for two more hits. However, our reigning Billboard king, Shaboozey, is still number 1. Bar Song (Tipsy) is just too catchy. So, which artists have pushed through to the Top 2 and 3 spots this week? We’ve got all the info for you right here, so hold onto your pumpkin lattes, and let’s get into our Billboard recap for 10/12/24.

Top Billboard 3: Timeless by The Weeknd and Playboi Carti

A new song has come to play in our third slot this week. The Weeknd and Playboi Carti’s “Timeless” is a hip-hop journey through the emotional struggles of fame. The track focuses on becoming timeless and writing our legacies, alluding to past and present with a nostalgic feel. It’s pretty clever how the duo uses ’80s synths to paint a picture of how we idolize stars from decades past. The song exudes melancholy vibes, going back and forth between confidence and uncertainty. Fame can be a good thing, but it can also be a struggle unlike any other.

The Weeknd is no stranger to the Billboard Top 100, with an earth-shattering five hits in the Top 10, four of them having been at number 1. With “Timeless” already sitting at number 3 with a late September release, we could see it rise to the top before long. Playboi Carti has also seen Billboard success, with five hits in the Top 10o. His collaboration with Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign, “Carnival” peaked at number 1 in March of this year after its February release. It’s fair to say that both artists mean what they say when they talk about fame. We predict this won’t be the only week in the Top 3 for “Timeless”.

Top Billboard 2: Bird of a Feather by Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish is back in the Top 3 this week with her hit, “Birds of a Feather”. The track has been lingering on the Billboard charts since its release, but it has now reached its peak at number 2. This is a drastic jump from last week when we saw the song at number 6. Fans have described “Birds of a Feather” as Eilish’s most romantic song released, speculating it to be about her relationship with The Neighbourhood star, Jesse Rutherford. Eilish has confirmed that her album Hit Me Hard and Soft was inspired by multiple people over a broad timeline, so the speculation holds merit.

As a seasoned artist only rising in fame since her debut in 2015, Eilish is certainly used to the Billboard treatment. She’s garnered five Top 100 hits in her career, with her 2019 single, “Bad Guy” peaking at number one. With “Birds of a Feather” currently at number 2, Eilish could easily secure another win in the coming weeks. Competing with Sabrina Carpenter‘s multiple tracks dominating the Top 20 as of late could have been why we didn’t see this song rise sooner. Remember, “Birds of a Feather” was released back in July. If anything, its place at number 2 in October is a testament to the song’s influence.

Our man Shaboozey continues to dominate the Billboard charts with his hit, “Bar Song (Tipsy)” for the 13th week in a row. This emulation of J-Kwon’s, “Tipsy” is too catchy for fans to put down. In an era where country music is bleeding into the mainstream and blending in with pop music, Shaboozey’s taken this trend to a whole new level and it shows. The song appeals to just about everyone, welcoming pop music fans, country fans, hip-hop fans, and those nostalgic for the original. Its steadfast hold on the number one slot is certainly no surprise.

While Shaboozey is a relatively new artist, his fame continues to rise with this lucky hit. He released an album back in May titled Where I’ve Been Isn’t Where I’m Going that showcases his versatility in music. The album features hip-hop, country, pop, and fusions of all three to create a truly fresh and unique experience. If you want to see Shaboozey live, his shows are scheduled in Fort Worth, TX, Los Angeles, CA, and Sacramento, CA this month. After that, he’s back to the East Coast for some shows across Appalachia.

In Conclusion

With “Espresso” and “I Had Some Help” falling off the Billboard Top 3 this week, “Timeless” and “Birds of a Feather” have a chance in the spotlight. It’s been a while since The Weeknd or Billie Eilish has held the number 1 spot, but can they surpass Shaboozey? Will Sabrina Carpenter or Post Malone roll back into the Top 3 next week? We predict that “Timeless” being released in late September means it has some staying power, but only time will tell. The Billboard charts are a vast landscape, but we’re here to make sure you get the facts every week. Make sure to check back to see where your favorite song ranks.
