Top 10 Movies That Ruled 2010s

Avengers: Infinity War is one of the movies that ruled the 2010s

The 2010s were honestly the best years for movies. At this point, superhero movies took off to the sky, some of the best comedies made us laugh hard, and actors got to show off their skills in some of the best dramatic or action roles. What exactly would we consider some of the best movies of the decade?

1. Inception (2010)

Christopher Nolan’s movie about dreams is one of the most thrilling of 2010. In it, we follow a man named Cobb, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who is haunted by his past and demons that follow him into the world of dreams as he takes on one last job to go home to his family. The visual effects of this movie are not only some of the best of its time, but it pushes the limits of filmmaking along with the practical effects.

2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 (2011)

The film to end the Harry Potter story was honestly the best. Not only does it wrap up everyone’s story arc, but it also gives you more action than any of the other films in the series, along with more emotion. On top of that, it allows the audience to say goodbye to the characters’ journey they’ve followed.

3. Marvel’s The Avengers (2012)

When the words “superhero movie” come to mind, this is the one to watch. The cast is prime and on their game as they take on the evil Loki, who wants to take over the world. This movie was the first big MCU movie that set the tone for many superhero movie genres. Not only does the acting do the film justice, but its action is some of the best of 2012 and, I must say, rewindable.

4.  Iron Man 3 (2013)

This movie picks up months after the events of Marvel’s Avengers, when we see how those also dealing with his own mistakes.  It does give us two of the best action scenes of the Iron Man trilogy. It also feels like a spiritual success to a movie called “Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang,” which also starred Robert Downey Jr.

5. Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

For three movies, we followed the adventures of Sam Witwicky as he and his friends teamed up with the Autobots to defend the world from the Decepticons. So when the star of the movie, Shia LaBeouf, left the series, he left a big hole. In comes Mark Wahlberg, and surprisingly, the movie did well. This movie kinda gave a slight reboot to the franchise by telling a new story and moving forward with each film.

6. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

The Force Awakens took off to lightspeed 30 years after the prequel trilogy ended. Though we get to catch up on some of the original Star Wars characters, we are taken on a new adventure as we follow Rey, Fin, and Poe as they take on the First Order led by the evil Kylo Ren.

This movie not only brought something new to the series but also let those who have been fans for years experience nostalgia. With the promise of something new from the series, we as an audience got on board the Millennium Falcon and took off to a galaxy far… far away.

7. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

In 2016, this was the movie to see that year. After dealing with the fallout of the events from Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron, Steve Rogers is put to the test after an unfortunate incident in Logos, which puts the Avengers on two different sides when the Sokovia Accords are introduced. In this movie, we get introduced to the Black Panther and Spider-Man, who steal the show and are, honestly, the best parts of the film.

8. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)

Even though Star Wars: The Last Jedi had a mixed reception when it was released, it still broke the box office records. The movie picks up exactly where The Force Awakens ends, with Rey finding the legendary Luke Skywalker. This film also experiments with the Star Wars lore as we get introduced to the Jedi and the Sith and what could be the end of both sides of the coin we call the Force.

9. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

This put a smile on a lot of fans’ faces with its big release into the cinemas. Infinity War was the beginning of the end of the Infinity Saga. In it, we see our heroes tested to the extreme when the tyrant Thanos and his Black Order search for the Infinity Stones. Some of the best performances in a Marvel movie are in this film, the one standing out being Josh Brolin as Thanos. The ending left the audience speechless and wondering where our main characters go from there.

10. Avengers: End Game (2019)

Dealing with the fallout of the previous film, we see a world… a universe where half of the population has disappeared in an event called “The Snap,” later called “the Blip.” Hope is lost until Scott Lang, aka the Ant-Man, comes back from being trapped in the quantum realm with a plan to bring everyone back. As the first part of Infinity War was pretty heavy in tone, this one gives us a lighter mood. It also gives us some of the best action we’ve seen and is still talked about to this day. We also get some very heartbreaking endings, along with new beginnings for other characters.

Final Thoughts

Each year has given us something to talk about with our fellow movie peers. They also gave us something to look back on a visit time and time again. The one question that still remains is, will the future of cinema ever top the 2010 era of film?
