Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is an icon in the entertainment industry. Active for over four decades now, Cruise is one of the most decorated actors in Hollywood today, starring in films that consistently top the box office charts. Frequently a lead in sci-fi and action films, Cruise has notoriously performed his stunts for movies without the use of a stunt double. At age 62, it appears he still has it, as a newly released trailer for the next Mission Impossible film shows him pulling off some jaw-dropping new moves.

Tom Cruise, known for his recurring role in the Mission: Impossible series, previously set the record for most $100-million-grossing movies filmed consecutively between 2012 and 2018. With multiple Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and even a Distinguished Public Service Award, Cruise has established himself as a true icon in the business, one that has made his mark in pop culture and will go down as one of the greatest of the era.

But Tom Cruise is not done yet. The 62-year-old actor debunked theories that he may be replaced in the Mission Impossible franchise this entry by stunning fans in the new Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning trailer. There are easter eggs scattered throughout the trailer that harken back to older movies in the iconic franchise, including the vault break in from entry one and the meeting infiltration from Dead Reckoning.

Cruise does not just show his old stuff, though. He impresses with scenes from this latest entry as well. Death defying leaps are depicted throughout the trailer, as are instances underwater, crashing vehicles, and insane airplane stunts. Hanging from a 1930s biplane easily opens fans’ eyes, but the running and action-packed leaps and turns have fans gripping the edge of their seat as well. Cruise may be 62, but he is proving age is just a number with his shocking ability to maintain physical exersion throughout the trailer.

Final Thoughts

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning is set to premiere in theaters on May 23. All indicators are that this may be the last entry to star Tom Cruise’s character, and if this is the case, they are packing a punch for the finale. With loaded references to previous entries and explosive scenes to cap off an iconic character, Cruise will have to escape handcuffs if he wants to save the world one more time. Based on the trailer, Mission Impossible has as much action as ever before, and Cruise is not shying away from it. The cout de grace may be the best one yet.
