The Snake is an all-new reality competition show on Fox, hosted by Jim Jeffries. This social competition will pit 15 players against each other for an opportunity to win the $100,000 cash prize. With reality television saturating the market right now, the show attempts to put a new spin on the popular genre, utilizing both competition prowess and social manipulation and strategy that is not about choosing who you want gone, but rather who wants you to be saved. With the show premiering on June 10, we have everything you need to know to prepare yourself for the season.
What To Know About The Snake
Fox has dove headfirst into the reality television space in recent years, trying out several different ideas for new concepts. The critically acclaimed Claim To Fame is arguably the most successful, and the most recent was the spin on survivalist shows, Extracted. This summer will be taken over by a more familiar reality television concept. The Snake requires challenge success, social game prowess, and a whole lot of lying and deception. Strap in, because it is going to be an explosive ride, as evidenced by the released trailer.
According to Fox, the network claims that all contestants who have been cast on Season 1 of The Snake are self-proclaimed “master manipulators,” although the depth to which they do so differs. Which makes sense, given the title of the show. So what exactly will the contestants have to do? The winner takes home the grand prize of $100,000. There is not a ton out there yet, but from what information we do know, contestants will partake in competitions, where the winner becomes the Snake. This is where the most power lies.
The Snake will lead off the saving ceremony, which Fox describes as “an explosive, chain reaction elimination where it’s not about who wants you gone, but who is willing to save you.” Fox continues, “The social aspect of the game never stops – connections are everything whether you’re making friends, faking friends, or sparking romantic connections.” Essentially, it appears that the Snake will pick a player to be saved, and each player then on will pick a person, until only one player is left and is eliminated from the game. It is an interesting concept and spin from being a pure numbers game. If nothing else, there promises to be plenty of drama.
