The Night Agent’s Season 2 ‘Rose Riddle’: How Season 3 Could Potentially Solve It

The Night Agent

Okay, guys, let’s face it, there’s a slight snag in Season 2 of The Night Agent. The crux of this snag is none other than the character we all adore, Rose, superbly portrayed by New Zealand’s finest, Luciane Buchanan. Don’t mistake me here; Rose isn’t the problem per se, but rather, how she’s been woven into the narrative seems to be causing a bit of a fuss.

For those of you who might be out of the loop, let me fill you in. The spotlight in The Night Agent’s Season 2 was squarely on the Bala crime family’s assault on the United Nations building in NYC. Our leading guy, Peter Sutherland, was knee-deep in the action, playing detective in a quest to trace a covert information sale to its buyer. Sounds like a real tangled ball of yarn, doesn’t it? Regrettably, this left our lass Rose feeling somewhat abandoned.

The Night Agent Recap

In Season 1, Rose had a secure place in the plot, thanks to her fascinating relationship with her aunt and uncle, who were intrinsically linked to the central enigma.
This connection made Rose’s role in the unfolding drama feel organic and completely embedded (and yes, there was a bit of romance involved, too!). However, fast-forward to Season 2, Rose seemed less pivotal to the plot, more like a prop to heighten Peter’s emotional stakes, leaving us fans feeling slightly deflated by Rose’s character arc.

However, Rose undoubtedly has the smarts and the courage to contribute significantly to the Night Agent team. Wouldn’t it whip up quite a storm if Catherine Weaver decided to bring Rose on board for training and a mission uniquely tailored to our girl’s tech-whizz skills in Season 3? Visualize a scenario where Rose is part of the Night Agent unit while Peter is undercover liaising with Jacob Monroe. Surely, that’s a tantalizing, nail-biting, Mr. and Mrs. Smith-esque dynamic in the making!

Moreover, instead of having Peter and Rose reunite early in Season 3, how about if they worked separately on different aspects of the same mission, gathering vital information independently? Then they could reconvene towards the season finale only to discover they’ve been working towards the same endgame all along! Now, that’s a plot twist that could genuinely amplify Rose’s character and one I’m keen to see unfold.

Final Thoughts

Bear in mind, in Season 1, Rose was key to the plot because of her family connections, not merely a sideshow.
So, it’s high time to let Rose reclaim the limelight and see how she manages the high-octane world of Night Agent in Season 3. Personally, I’m on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting the direction the new season will take our favorite tech-savvy genius.
Until then, all we can do is binge previous seasons and hope that Rose’s character arc finds its footing in Season 3. So here’s to hoping our beloved cyber whiz gets the screen presence she deserves and doesn’t end up as a mere subplot in the coming season.
