The Naked Gun Trailer

Brief Silly History

The first time we experienced the Naked Gun series was with the police comedy series Police Squad (1982), which lasted only six episodes. In the series, we followed Frank Durbin, played by the late Leslie Nielsen, who continued playing the character after the series ended. From there, we got three movies: The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988), The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991), and Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult (1994), along with a video game called ICUP (2012), which was a point-and-click game following the adventures of Frank Drebin Jr. which was available on iOS/Android.

What to Expect?

Well, from what we have seen in the teaser trailer, we will see the comedy of the classic movies that has driven people to love the film series. From seeing Liam Neeson unmask himself out of a girl scout uniform and kicking butt the way a Drebin should to seeing some of the silliest cop tropes we haven’t seen in ages, this trailer brings back comedy to the level it should be at.

Can It Live Up To The Naked Gun?

The only question we have for this film is, will it live up to its name? We’ve seen many films like its kind out there in the world, but none have been even close to the same level of enjoyment that the series has given us. The hope for this movie is that it revitalizes the spoof genre of movies that since the early 2000s has been on a downward spiral.

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to this comedy or do you think the days of the spoof comedy are over?
