The Masked Singer brings a twist to this season’s quarter-final special! The remaining five unknown contestants took the stage and sang tunes that held personal meaning. And their clue packages were presented by people close to them, albeit disguised to all. At the same time, the judges keep clambering to come out ahead in their competition. The strongest competitor for this revival is Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, with four correct guesses. But did things change with the elimination and reveal of this week’s unlucky singer?
The Masked Singer Gets Personal
The Masked Singer contestants opened this crucial occasion by performing one of Boston’s memorable melodies. Detective Lucky Duck appeared afterward and brought with him a head-scratching clue. He revealed that one of the mystery singers took something from judge Robin Thicke. The show proceeded as planned, with Coral wowing everyone with Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi.” Her best friend forever and former co-star recounted how they first met. He even presented clues like a lily bouquet and a clapperboard for a musical movie.
Nessy took the stage next as his masked daughter gave us some insight. She revealed he’s a loving father despite his cringeyness, and he loves posting on socials. Afterward, the cryptid from the loch gave a moving performance of Lady Gaga‘s “Million Reasons.” The third performance belonged to Boogie Woogie and his rendition of “Golden Hour” from JVKE. His disguised wife revealed he channeled his grief into making his most inspirational songs. He also admitted that he and his wife once performed at the White House.
Before Pearl took the stage, her future son-in-law admired her. He also told us how nervous he was when asked to marry her daughter. Pearl proceeded to wow the audience and judges with a renowned hit from The Outfield. The final performance belonged to Mad Scientist Monster and his rendition of “The Scientist.” His wife joined the clue package and revealed how he showed her true love. Afterward, the fuzzy fella mentioned how people know him as a party anthem guy.
Down to Four Now
Every performance during this Masked Singer quarter-finals was off the chain. But someone still had to go, so the audience and judges proceeded to vote. Host Nick Cannon read the results, and Nessy was the unlucky contestant going home. Everyone was shocked before the mythical creature revealed his most meaningful hint: a Celtic knot. The judges gave their final guesses, and then Nessy unveiled himself as . . . Edwin McCain!
McCain is known famously as the singer and songwriter behind hits like “I’ll Be.” But music has been a part of his life since childhood. He even joined a church choir in Greenville, South Carolina, when he was seven. McCain’s music career took off in 1997, and people fell in love with his melodies. He’s released countless singles and albums and performed on numerous glamorous stages throughout his career. Now, The Masked Singer holds the honor of being his most recent.
A Surprise Involving the Golden Ear
The battle for the Golden Mask rages, as did the Golden Ear competition. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg has held a strong lead since the previous week. But it appears she now has some competition from fellow panelist Robin Thicke. He correctly guessed Nessy’s identity as Edwin McCain, giving him a fourth point. This development means these insightful Masked Singer judges are in a deadlock for first place. But let us see if these insightful individuals keep or lose their lead.
Final Thoughts
Every performance of this Masked Singer event got me grooving or moved my heart. However, my favorites were Coral and Pearl since I loved their choice of songs. I’ll also admit that seeing Nessy getting voted off was a huge shock. I even grew slightly outraged since he was one of the stronger singers. Nevertheless, it was incredible to discover that a music icon was behind the cryptid. It’ll be intriguing to see what happens next week with the semifinals.
