The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 To Air in Spring 2025

The Handmaid's Tale

The Handmaid’s Tale becomes more realistic as time progresses. It is scheduled to release season 6 on Hulu in Spring 2025 and is expected to be the end of the series. All your favorite stars Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, O-T Fagbenle, Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, and Ann Dowd are returning. The dark dystopian that we all know and fear continues to get darker as the series progresses. Life under a Christian dictatorship is not what it is cracked up to be. It follows a young woman named June and her efforts to escape the new life she found herself stuck in.

Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale

The Handmaid’s Tale fans have seen it all during the series five seasons and are thrilled to see what comes next in season 6. They have seen the cast endure the most torturous and appalling conditions in the dystopian world known as Gilead. It can be a difficult series to watch, but it does have strong points that continue to draw viewers. The series was also awarded an Emmy and Golden Globe along with its lead Elisabeth Moss.

The fifth season finished in 2022 leaving fans wondering when the next and final season will be released. Not many details have been released; however, we have a synopsis of what it might be about. In The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 finale, June and her daughter Nichole leave Canada by train to go out west. While her husband, Luke, surrenders to authorities to protect them, June departs with uncertainty. But in a shocking twist, she ends up on the same train as Serena Joy and her baby. Shocked by each other’s presence, they set out on their new future.

The Upcoming Finale Season

The Handmaid’s Tale is based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 book. The book’s ending does not have much of a resolution. Offred, who is June in the TV series but not identified in the book, is taken away in a van. It is uncertain if she will escape Gilead, or be apprehended for her forbidden relationships with the Commander and his driver. The Hulu series followed the original storyline in Season 1 but has progressed much further than the book. Therefore, the ending will naturally be different. So, not even fans of the banned classic will foretell the future of June and Gilead.

In the finale season, there are returning cast members and some new but not unfamiliar faces. Actor Josh Charles from The Good Wife or The Veil will appear in the upcoming season, but his role is unknown. In an interview with Elle, Elisabeth Moss discusses the filming process, the finale of season 5, and what to expect in season 6. She said, “June is going to figure out who she is and who she’s going to be for the rest of her life.” She also hinted that fans should prepare for a non-ideal ending. She told Elle, “I don’t think we feel an obligation to tie up the entire story of Gilead.”
