The Devil Wears Prada London Musical Production Opens in London

The Devil Wears Prada the Musical

The best-selling novel, The Devil Wears Prada, after being adapted into a movie, and then having a runway based on its theme, is now having a musical. The musical is currently being played in London and Europe, fortunately, it’s not just limited to people currently in London.

There is a website for ‘The Devil Wears Prada Musical’, where tickets can be purchased, and it is described as a weekend getaway. Along with the tickets, there are links to luxurious hotels for the guests and viewers traveling. The only detail to worry about would be booking airplane tickets to see the musical.

The Devil Wears Prada‘ Franchise

Before being adapted into a movie, The Devil Wears Prada was a novel written by Lauren Weisberger that was published in 2003. It was about a young woman who landed a difficult job as the assistant to a high-maintenance boss, in a high fashion company.

The story first begins with the impression of a young and naive girl trying to make it in the big city but soon turns into a lesson about burnout. The Devil Wears Prada movie adaptation of this first novel came out in 2006, and it gained a total of twenty-one wins and fifty-three nominations. This includes two Oscar nominations.

Following this novel after its popularity, Weisberger wrote two more books for the main series of the franchise, before then adding two additional sequels. The order for the main series goes from The Devil Wears Prada to Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, and, When Life Gives You Lululemons.

The first sequel is a combination of the first two main series books, while the second sequel is a five-book collection. It contains both the first two main series books, plus three new side stories titled Everyone Worth Knowing, Chasing Harry Winston, and Last Night at Chateau Marmont.

The Devil Wears Prada musical is described as a fun project that’s filled with humor, and naturally very stylish since all the actors will be dressed in high fashion. More photos and short videos of the play and its stage prep can be found on Instagram, where the musical has its own Instagram account called @pradawestend. The musical is based on both the film and the novel but doesn’t feature any of the other books.

The Premiere

It premiered at the Dominion Theatre on December 1st, 2024, with many famous people walking the red carpet to watch it. There were actors with sparkling gowns, inspired dress designs, carefully chosen suits, fashion designers, and music artists. One of those music artists attending the premiere was Elton John, the British singer-songwriter, who also created an original score for the musical.

Elton John, at the age of seventy-seven, had been struggling with his eyesight recently due to an eye infection that continued to grow more severe. His vision became limited, and by the time he appeared in public to watch the musical, he had lost his sight, but he still wanted to be there for the performance Fortunately, he could still hear everything very clearly, including the score he wrote for the musical. Thanks to his ability to hear, Elton John was thankfully still able to enjoy the musical and leave a review
