It’s looking like May 1st of next year The Devil Wears Prada 2 will debut. The Meryl Streep – Anne Hathaway film from 2006 (nearly 20 years!) has its long-awaited sequel coming out in 2026. Does Miranda get any nicer? How about Andy – does she get to work as a journalist? And Miranda’s assistant Emily – what’s going on with her? How is the magazine doing in a rapidly changing digital world?
The Devil Wears Prada 2 Plot

So far it’s reported that part two is a direct sequel to part one. Miranda still is editor-in-chief at Runway magazine, although it is struggling to be published in a digital online world. Will she go to a digital platform?
As for Miranda’s loyal assistant, Emily Charlton, (played by Emily Blunt), she ends up becoming a high-powered executive; will she be in competition with Miranda? Remember, Miranda didn’t choose her to go on that special Paris Fashion Week trip in the first film.
What about Andy? Andy, who had a crisis of conscience after seeing how Miranda treated Nigel, left the job. Her boyfriend Nate went to Boston to be a sous chef, so does this mean Andy starts over in a new city? Anne Hathaway has mentioned the “city of love,” meaning none other than Paris.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 Cast (so far)
Besides Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, we have Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, and potentially Simon Baker all returning as their characters. It is not known if Daniel Sunjata will reprise his role as fashion mogul James Holt. Kenneth Branagh is a new addition to the cast, playing Miranda‘s husband.
There will be cameos by models and fashion designers. It looks as though Valentino Garavani, Heidi Klum, and Bridget Hall will once again make appearances. The writer and director team of Aline Brosh McKenna and David Frankel are on board as well.
The Glacially-Paced Sequel
Miranda says “By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.” That was directed at Andy in part one. Now we finally have the follow-up! It will be interesting to see how Miranda deals with the digitalization of almost everything, changes in the fashion world, and her encounters with Emily and Andy.
With the superb talent of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, there’s no doubt this movie will take the box office by storm. We’re way overdue for a dramedy about fashion, publications, and… well, life.
