Welcome back classy dogs! (Sounds better than calling someone a dog, for real). Now, for this week’s Culture Hound I thought long and hard about some vampires today, one would think, Marianna? It is a little bit early for Halloween, isn’t it? (Shut up *Hides all the bats she can find*). Let’s get into it shall we?
The Culture Hound: Vampires (Oh My)

Where’s the rest of that song. of culture? You know, Lions, Tigers, and Bears. But let’s talk about vampires. Now what do you think when you hear the word vampire, I imagine lots of things, like the count, or Bela Lugosi in the 1930’s, or even those of the more spiritual circles imagine those that enjoy the energy of others. That is kind of part of what we are getting into today, reason being? I’m bored.
So in light of my morbid as all can be speech from my sophomore year of high school during the debate team. The definition of what can be a vampire is a leech. (I.E. bloodsucker). Now bloodsucker doesn’t necessarily mean that, it could reference a lot of mental issues, and even divided into subclasses (Sounds like DnD huh?).

Did you all know that there is a vampire emperor based in you guessed it, Louisiana. ‘Vampire emperor’ Don Henrie, he says that they are much nicer when it comes to getting blood, They are certain different types of vampires, Don Henrie is a sanguinarian vampire, meaning that he actually needs blood in order to survive. as best explained by Newsweek.
But you’re still here? Good. Some of the other classes of vampires include, Psychic vampires are not necessarily blood-drinkers, they feed more on the spiritual energy from other people, because they are more in sync with other spiritual energy, they feel they must use that to survive.
Living vampires say they are more human like than their fellow vampires, they are more into their religious orders, such as the Temple of the Vampire, and The temple of the Black Dragon. Vampire Role players are much different than the actual vampires, these kind of people dress up in the looks of vampires and have the habits just like the vampires, such as sleeping in coffins. The nickname for these people is ‘Fashion vamps’. I mean with cosplay, It is no wonder that people want to look cool in this day and age.
Some of the history is wide and varied, such as Vlad the Impaler, who was the inspiration for Count Dracula. Elizabeth Bathory, and many serial killers that have even been sensationalized into drinking blood of their victims (that might be a future article!) Even all of our media has been taunted by the bloodsucking phenomenon of culture.
Also, some vampire movies that are quite popular are, The Underworld Trilogy, obviously Twilight, the German film Nosferatu, The Lost Boys series, and many more movies. Some books that are popular are, once again Twilight, the Vampire Diaries, and many more books as well. some TV series that are popular are, The Vampire Diaries, and Being Human. (Man these guys are everywhere!)
