The TV series, which is based on the acclaimed comics of Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson, as well as the executive producers, will be available to watch exclusively on Prime Video on June 13th. It will air three episodes and release one episode per week until the season finale on July 18th. It will be streaming in more than 240 countries.
It is a satire of the superhero world in the era of Marvel films and series and today’s world that portrays its few lights and many shadows.
Eric Kripke masterfully adapted the comics and created a show we can’t stop watching. He harmoniously blends violence and gore scenes with his delightful superheroes-gone-bad storytelling style, a brilliant alternative to the soft heroism of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The fourth season was already confirmed when Season 3 aired on Prime Video in 2022. Evidently, this shows the streaming platform’s total confidence in one of its most successful series in recent years. In December of last year, Prime Video released the teaser of Season 4. Now we have the full trailer! Amazon released it a few days ago.
Cast

The cast will remain almost the same, but there are a few new incorporations. Who are the latest members joining for Season 4? Valorie Curry will be Firecracker, and Susan Hayward will play Sister Sage.
These characters do not appear in the comics, so we still need to find out how they will appear or find out more details about them. In fact, Kripke did not like how the comics ended, and because of that, the series will probably diverge from the original story.
The real bombshell of this new season is the signing of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the Negan from The Walking Dead. Eric Kripke had wanted to reunite with the actor after their time together on Supernatural, where Morgan played John Winchester. Still, the filming of The Walking Dead and pandemic restrictions prevented it—until now. For the moment, the details of his new role are unknown.
Of course, we will have the pleasure of enjoying the presence of Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Erin Moriarty (Starlight), Antony Starr (Homelander), and Claudia Doumit (Victoria Neumann), among other of our favorite The Boys characters.
Nonetheless, Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Dominique McElligott as Maeve have shadowy futures, as there are rumors of doubt about their presence in the new season.
Plot
If you have reached this point, beware! I warn you before you keep reading: there are a few small spoilers along the road. Part of Gen V’s storyline is connected to the upcoming new season of The Boys, so we should keep in mind the end of season 1 of Gen V.
Obviously, the specific season 4 plot details are still veiled to us mortals who don’t work on the show’s production team. Anyway, in the Season 3 finale, Butcher is in a race against the clock and doesn’t have long to live after overdosing on Temp V. At the same time, we also know about a supe virus created in Gen V’s ‘Woods.’ So, The Boys season 4 will be all about the VIRUS.
In a recent interview with Variety, Eric Kripke said: “We knew that we wanted that virus to be a pretty big part of Season 4, and we knew that we wanted Butcher to be aware of it. It seems crazy that he wouldn’t be aware of it. It became kind of tricky because how do we show that he knows about it without it just being dialogue? This idea that it probably shouldn’t even happen in The Boys, it should happen in Gen V”. The wonders of coordinating the [two show writers] creative rooms, right?
Although increasingly detached from the comics, The Boys will continue to explore the struggle to defeat Vought’s superhero dictatorship with Victoria Neuman, who is closer than ever to the Oval Office but under the control of Homelander, who is strengthening his power.
Butcher has only a few months to live and has lost Ryan, Becca’s son, and his role as leader of The Boys team, as they seem to be fed up with his manners. All in all, with danger getting bigger and bigger, they must still try to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.
Additionally, we must keep in mind another spin-off from the ‘The Boys’ universe, like the animated anthology The Boys Presents: Diabolical, which premiered earlier this year.
