The Black Phone 2 Trailer is Soliciting a New Evil

The Black Phone 2 Trailer

With October comes the call for a scary feast of horror movies from the void! The Black Phone 2 is one of those dead ringers, reserving its spot in theaters. This sequel came out of nowhere, but we are elated to see it being revived. The story is picking up where it left off, and it is a gorier and more horrifying experience than its predecessor, The Black Phone.

The Boy and The Rotary (The Black Phone Recap)

The creative team of Scott Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill, and Joe Hill unleashed The Black Phone in June 2022 to the delight of audiences as an interesting take on the serial killer genre.  Taking place in 1978, a serial killer called The Grabber, played by Ethan Hawke, is spreading a reign of terror through a community. The abductor kidnaps boys and locks them away in a soundproof basement, tortures them, and then kills them.

The story revolves around a boy named Finny Blakeplayed by Mason Thames, the latest Grabber victim. The boy is trapped in the soundproof torture chamber and must think of a way to escape before he meets his demise. Finny receives help from a bunch of boys through an old black rotary phone. The twist: the boys on the other end of the line are the previous victims of the killer, and help Finny survive the killer’s wrath. Its sequel, The Black Phone 2, will follow up with more mysteries, spirits, and gruesome deaths.

The Black Phone 2 Trailer Dissection

The Black Phone 2 trailer recently dropped for the movie in June 2025, giving us a chilling glimpse into what is to come from the returning creative team this October 2025. Ethan Hawke is back in the mask and apparently, from the dead! Mason Thames is reprising his role as Finny, and he is about to relive his dark history in a new nightmare. It will also be interesting to see Finny’s sister, Gwen Blake, played by Madeleine McGraw, fighting alongside her brother against the supernatural killer.

We will expect a time skip forward to an older Finny battling the dark force behind the scars of his past. The trauma of the rotary phone still haunts our protagonist and will ring once again as the bridge between him and the dead. Only this time, the ghost on the other end is not going to be as kind as the previous spirits. Looks like the Grabber is expanding his victim demographic and going after both siblings. Based on the setting, the focus of the story includes more missing boys from a youth camp, possibly from behind Finny’s encounter with the Grabber.

Leave a Message (Final Thoughts)

Based on this much information, it will seem the time of The Black Phone 2 will be set in Finny and Gwen’s teen years, but it will uncover stories of the past. More ghost kids are trying to reach out to warn the characters of the danger behind the veil. We might learn more about the Grabber’s back story and previous victims, known and new, in more detail with this sequel.

The same directing and writing force behind the first movie will hopefully give us another nail-biting experience with The Black Phone 2. Familiar faces in the main cast returning to their characters invoke a promising experience for this sequel. So don’t touch that dial, people, or you might be inthralled with something sinister from the other side.
