Therefore, The Angels in Catholic Teaching and Tradition might seem like it only applies to Catholics, but it actually applies to everyone. Father Pascal Parente, the author compiles in The Angels in Catholic Teaching and Tradition. This book puts together nearly everything that is known. Thus, the book is very useful and applies to everyone, whether they believe, or not. The author draws heavily from the tradition of the Catholic Church and doctors and fathers as well.

Parente explains the many things including creation, intelligence, free will, language, powers, movements, number, and duties in this very informative book. The author also relates the history of devotion and discloses such little-known facts as that there are guardian angels not only of individuals, but also of churches, dioceses, and nations! Everyone and everything.

In a world that is jaded and increasingly curious about spiritual beings and at the same time skeptical about the existence and power of those beings, The book is an important tool for distinguishing the true from the false. It is a sure guide through the unseen and holy world of the angelic spirit.

A Useful Typology

This book provides a useful accounting of many useful things, but perhaps the most useful thing about it is its listing of the typology. There are nine types of angels, or choirs, of angels. The Seraphim, the Cherubim, the Thrones, the Dominations, the Virtues, the Powers, the Principalities, the archangels, and the angels.

The most famous of these choirs are the archangels. They are Michael (the warrior), Gabriel (the messenger), and Raphel (the healer). Lucifer. the devil, is a fallen angel, he was a Cherib, who denied God and disobeyed him. As an Angel he is powerful, which is why he can seduce us. It is a good thing we all have guardian angel to protect us.

Some Facts

We all get a couple of things from these supernatural beings, regardless of our faith. First, everyone, and every place, all have guardian angels. They protect us. This may seem implausible, but there is a near infinite number of them, they are called the heavenly host and there are said to be armies of them. Also, some of the supernatural beings serve as messengers from God. They serve God and offers him praises. They cannot experience salvation and are genderless, even though sometimes in scripture they are referred to as male or female.

There are some other facts we should know. First, they are not to be worshipped, God is. Second, demons are angels too, they are just fallen and reject God. Third, we know these things because they appear time and time again in scripture. Most of what we know about them is from scripture, but it is important to know that they exist today.

Conclusion

This is an informative and useful book. It should appeal to everyone as everyone is aided by these supernatural beings, whether they believe it or not. Therefore, the book, offers a useful accounting. Perhaps the most useful part of the book is the ninth chapter, entitle, what guardian angels do for us. These supernatural beings aid us in many ways, and it is important we know those facts.
