After a five-year hiatus from music, the Harlem native has returned better than ever with her smoldering new single, “Long Time“. Released on June 4, 2025, the seductive single is extracted from her upcoming visual album, Escape Room.

Enhanced by a powerful monologue delivered by Taraji P Henson, the breathtaking performance brilliantly showcased Taylor’s trademark raspy vocals and flawless choreography. Clad in red, Taylor and her dancers held burning bouquets of roses as she perfectly executed an impromptu performance of her song “Fire Girl“. Soon after, actress Taraji P. Henson appeared clad in a slightly disheveled white gown. While also holding a burning bouquet, Henson stood high above the stage as she delivered an emotionally driven monologue. The monologue detailed how she has survived a tumultuous relationship and refused to let it break her.

After their soul-stirring performances in Tyler Perry’s new Netflix film, Straw, Taylor and Henson proved once again how well they work together. Taylor then reappeared dressed in a silver robotic ensemble, while floating above the stage, showcasing freedom. With synchronized precision, she then delivered “Long Time“. This marked the very first time the mid-tempo tune was performed live. Hosted by the hilarious Kevin Hart, the 2025 BET Awards were full of surprise appearances, stellar performances, and extreme nostalgia. From the 106th and Park reunion to Kendrick Lamar winning Album of the Year, “Culture’s Biggest Night” was definitely one to remember. “Escape Room” is set to release in August 2025.
