The Acolyte
The Acolyte premiered on Disney+ on June 4th, 2024, as another installment in the Star Wars franchise. The series follows the story of “An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master against a dangerous warrior from his past. As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.” The Acolyte was created by Lesley Headland and starred Lee Jung-Jae, Amanda Stenberg, Manny Jacinto, and Charlie Barnett.
The team did not reach the success they were looking for. IMDb users rank the TV series at 4.1/10 with 124 thousand ratings. This makes it safe to say that the show was canceled due to poor audience reactions, but that wasn’t the only reason. Disney has been struggling to find an audience for their streaming installments of the Star Wars franchise in general making the studio very picky about what they will spend their money on next. For this instance, it is not The Acolyte.
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Curb Your Enthusiasm first aired on October 17, 1999. The show is summarized as follows: “Larry David stars as an over-the-top version of himself in this comedy series that shows how seemingly trivial details of day-to-day life can precipitate a catastrophic chain of events.” ABC produced 12 seasons within the 25 years it’s existed.
The show had exceptional audience reactions, which led the show to have an amazing career. IMDb rates the series 8.8/10 with 151 thousand ratings. Curb Your Enthusiasm also garnered 177 nominations and two Primetime Emmy wins before the show was canceled. Meanwhile, the series is ranked the 57th best TV show of all time. Larry David canceled the show’s unique contract with HBO, allowing him to leave whenever he saw fit.
The Good Doctor
The first episode of The Good Doctor aired on September 25th, 2017, and the last one was released on May 21st, 2024. The show was created and developed by David Shore and was broadcast by the ABC Network. The show stars Freddy Highmore, Richard Schiff, and Hill Harper. The Good Doctor television series became an audience favorite and rapidly gained critical claim by winning seven awards and receiving 28 nominations.
The show follows, “Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and Savant syndrome, is recruited into the surgical unit of a prestigious hospital.” Unfortunately, ABC canceled the show in an attempt to save a budget on an economical schedule.
