As the weather gets colder, November is the perfect time to cuddle inside with a compelling movie or TV show. The even better news? If you subscribe to Paramount+, there’s plenty of choice for what to watch. In addition to boasting a rich content library, the service adds new titles regularly, so you can never run out of content that tickles your fancy. Case in point: we’ve gathered three highlights below.
The Dead Don’t Hurt
Western fans have reason to look forward to November. The month marks the streaming premiere of The Dead Don’t Hurt, a moving drama written, directed, and produced by Viggo Mortensen. He also stars as Holger, a man who goes off to fight in the Civil War back in the 1860s, leaving his lover, Vivienne, behind. Vivienne must fend for herself during those turbulent times, which proves to be a difficult feat. When Holger returns, the two have to make peace with the person each has become in the other’s absence.
Viggo Mortensen previously starred in acclaimed movies like The Lord of the Rings, Eastern Promises, and Falling. The cast for The Dead Don’t Hurt also includes Vicky Krieps, Solly McLeod, Danny Huston, and Garret Dillahunt. The movie was released in cinemas to positive reviews, with critics praising it for its unconventional narrative structure and strong performances. You can stream it on Paramount+ starting November 1.
Landman
New show Landman will likely catch your eye thanks to the star-studded cast. Billy Bob Thornton appears as Tommy Norris, a crisis executive at an oil company. Other familiar faces include Ali Larter, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Andy García, and Michael Peña. Based on that line-up alone, the series should be a doozy. Plus, it was created by Taylor Sheridan, who was also responsible for the international hit Yellowstone.
Landman is based on the podcast Boomtown and described as a “story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics,” per Deadline. Not much else is known about the plot of the upcoming series, but we’re guessing you can expect exciting power plays and delicious character drama. The show premieres on Paramount+ on November 17.
The Agency
Speaking of appealing casts, The Agency is also worth marking your calendars for. A new spy series, it’s set within an agency responsible for training deep-cover agents. They are then sent on grueling missions and have to live under false identities for years in order to gain the trust of reliable sources and gather intel. It sounds like the show is setting up a deadly game of international intrigue. In other words, if you’re into spy stories, The Agency is not to miss.
As that premise alone wasn’t enough, the series stars Michael Fassbender, Richard Gere, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jeffrey Wright, and Katherine Waterston. Produced by George Clooney, The Agency is based on a French series called Le Bureau des Légendes, which ran for five seasons. Fingers crossed, The Agency will follow in the original’s footsteps and be on the air for years to come. Given that intriguing synopsis, there should be plenty of stories to tell. You can catch episodes on Paramount+ starting November 29.
Final Thoughts on Paramount+ November Highlights
Paramount+ may not drop as many new titles each month as some of its competitors, but it remains a solid entertainment option. Landman is likely to become the talk of the internet thanks to its cast, while The Agency should be a treat for fans of well-crafted spy stories. As far as The Dead Don’t Hurt is concerned, you can never go wrong with a great western. Make some popcorn, settle in, and get your stream on.
