Netflix: Top 3 Productions Coming in the Month of October

Incoming Movie Netflix, Russo Brothers, Hilda

Netflix has been one of the largest streaming platforms in history and has popularized the new medium of content viewing. On the very first day of October, Netflix will release more than 60 titles to stream. This is no surprise; every month, Netflix releases hundreds of titles on its website, making it almost impossible to track what’s coming and leaving. From the audience’s favorite horror classics to modern-day independent films and original series, Netflix is taking the month of October very seriously, creating a lot of excitement for the audience. Here are the top three productions, or franchises, coming in October to Netflix.

21 Jump Street (2012) and 22 Jump Street (2014)

21 Jump Street originally hit theaters in 2012, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. The story followed two below-average cops who needed to go undercover at a high school to bust a drug operation. The film was directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and had a budget between 42 million dollars and 54 million dollars. The film grossed 201 million dollars at the box office worldwide. The success of 21 Jump Street did not stop there, for the sequel was released 2 years later in 2014 and grossed 331 million dollars worldwide with a 50 million dollar budget.

Fans have loved the cop procedural comedy, giving it a 7.2 out of 10 IMDb rating with over 600,000 votes. The sequel followed in its original footsteps and received a 7 out of 10 IMDb rating with 400,000 votes. The films accumulated 18 awards between the two releases, making these two films a great addition to your October watchlist when taking a break from horror franchises.

Psycho (1960) and Psycho II (1983)

The original Psycho was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, was released on June 16th, 1960, and was created with a budget of only 800,000 dollars. The film stars Anthony Perkins, Janee Leigh, and Vera Miles. It follows the story of “A secretary on the run for embezzlement who takes refuge at a secluded California motel owned by a repressed man and his overbearing mother.” Psycho was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Actress, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Art Direction.

One of the best horror classics of all time is ranked number 34 on the IMDb top movie list and received an 8.5 out of 10 with over 700,000 votes. During the month of horror, Psycho can not do you wrong when building your October watchlist. The sequel, Psycho II, directed by Richard Franklin and starring Anthony Perkins and Vera Miles, will also come to Netflix on October 1st for fans who want to finish the series.

Outer Banks Season 4

A bit later in October, Netflix will release the fourth season of its original series Outer Banks on October 10th. At least the first five episodes of the fourth season. Outer Banks originally aired on April 15, 2020, and was created by Josh Pate and Shannon Burke. The teen drama stars Madeline Klein, Rudy Pankow, Chase Stokes, and Madison Bailey, just to name a few, and is summarized as, “On an island of haves and have-nots, teen John B enlists his three best friends to hunt for a legendary treasure linked to his father’s disappearance.”

The popular Netflix original has been a favorite amongst audiences, rated 7.5 out of 10 on IMDB with a popularity score of 208. The TV show cast has won four awards, including Best Kiss and Best Kick-Ass cast at the MTV Movie and TV Awards.
