King of the Hill Revival

King of the Hill 2025 Revival Is Heading to Hulu and We’re Losing It (In a Good Way)

Time to put down that propane tank, folks (safely, please) because the King of the Hill revival is officially making its way to Hulu. Yes, you heard it right. America’s favorite barbecue-enthusiast, Hank Hill, and his quirky, lovable Texan crew are headed back to our screens, and we’re very hyped about it. But there’s more to this revival than just nostalgia, so grab a cold Alamo beer, and let’s talk details.

What’s the Deal with This Revival?

For the uninitiated (please tell me you’re joking), King of the Hill originally ran from 1997 to 2009, dominating Sunday-night TV with its mix of biting humor, painfully relatable suburban struggles, and that “yup” from Boomhauer that somehow summed up life better than most self-help books.

Now, creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are cooking up something special for Hulu, and definitely for Arlen, Texas. The city is entering a more modern-ish age. Think drones, virtual reality headsets, and the Mega Lo Mart has apparently upgraded to… “Mega Lo Eats.” Yup, the future’s weird, but so is the Hills’ world, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Who’s Back?

We’re thrilled to report that Hank Hill (the “propane and propane accessories” enthusiast), Boomhauer (still unintelligible but deeply wise), and Bill Dauterive (sad bald guy energy at its finest) are all back. Unfortunately, Johnny Hardwick, who voiced the beloved conspiracy-theorist exterminator Dale Gribble, passed away in 2023. According to reports, Hardwick’s voice will be featured in some episodes—but King of the Hill alum Toby Huss will take over the role.

Pamela Adlon will re-enter our hearts (and likely, Hank’s last nerve) as Bobby Hill, though this time as a full-grown adult. An adult Bobby Hill in today’s chaotic world? I tell you whut… Apparently Bobby is in his 20s and he’s successful chef in Dallas at a German–Japanese–sushi–barbecue fusion restaurant. Right.

The comedic possibilities ane endless. Peggy Hill – with her infinite wisdom, confidence and peculiar talent for “Boggle” – is also returning to grace us with her larger-than-life personality. Honestly, Hulu didn’t give us the small-town miracle we needed, but they gave us the big one we deserved!

Modern Arlen, Say What?!

Prepare yourself for all the Arlen updates you didn’t think you needed. Judging by the first look, the vibe of the revival will capture the same spirit fans have been longing for – but with a 2020s twist. The photo teases everything from drones buzzing overhead (probably Dale’s doing) to Peggy sporting an updated wardrobe that screams “I still believe in myself, thank you very much.”

And in true Hill family fashion, there’s one thing that’ll likely never change. Hank will continue to passionately talk about his lawn – and propane (and perhaps propane accessories). Expect the same hilarious insights into suburban life, albeit now with the added pressures (and laughs) of keeping up with this tech-obsessed world.

Why This Revival Feels Different

Look, lots of reboots bring back familiar faces purely for the sake of a cash grab (cough, don’t look at us, Hollywood). But Hulu’s King of the Hill reboot feels more thoughtful. Characters have grown older, matured (or maybe regressed, in Dale’s case), and are navigating challenges that mirror our own weird times. It seems the creators want this revival to resonate with die-hard fans while also reeling in a generation that’s only known Bobby Hill through memes.

There’s a balance to be struck here, and with Mike Judge and Greg Daniels leading the charge, we’re dang confident the show will deliver the hilarity, small-town heart, and hard-hitting satire we all know and love. Mike Judge explains:

A lot has happened in the world since the original run of the show ended. There’s just a lot more for Hank to complain about.

When Can We See It?

Hulu’s King of the Hill’s release date is Monday, August 4th. All 10 episodes will drop at the same time. It will be intriguing to see a glimpse of “modern Arlen.”’ We’re already pre-emptively laughing at whatever shenanigans Chef Bobby gets into.

TL;DR?

The King of the Hill revival isn’t just nostalgia bait; it’s an opportunity to see where these iconic characters stand in today’s world. Whether Hank is still preaching about the benefits of propane, lawn care, or Bobby has discovered TikTok fame, there’s no doubt this revival will find its footing quickly.

Get ready to watch, laugh, and maybe spill a few tears (don’t lie; we all cried when Luanne got married). Hulu is shaping up to become every Texan’s (and anyone with good taste’s) go-to place for something truly special. Thank you, and we’ll see you in the alley for a cold one!
