Hot Frosty is a Tasty Netflix Treat 2024

Hot Frosty

Netflix is jumping into the holiday season with the charming new movie Hot Frosty. The movie stars Lacey Chabert of Mean Girls fame as Kathy Barrett, who unwittingly brings Jack the Snowman back to life. Chabert is a welcome face at Christmas time as she has lent her talents to numerous Hallmark Christmas movies. The movie also stars Dustin Milligan from Schitt’s Creek as Jack the Snowman.

Hot Frosty Plot

Chabert plays a widow who can’t seem to find the spirit of Christmas after losing her husband two years prior. Trying to work through her grief, she finds serenity in creating ice sculptures. While working on a snowman, she adds a scarf to the sculpture, and immediately, Jack the Snowman comes to life.

Jack enters the world with wonder, excitement, and naivete, experiencing things for the first time. Kathy’s initial shock turns into joy as she connects with her new companion. They share laughter, joy, and a deepening love that they both know will have a bitter end. For Jack, like any Snowman, is destined to melt at winter’s end. But that doesn’t stop Kathy from falling for Jack even though he is also on the cold side, you know, as Snowmen are.

Jack stirs up sleepy but picturesque Hot Springs from streaking to the thrift store for clothing to causing a car accident by one of Kathy’s friends (Lauren Holly), who smashes her vehicle upon seeing Jack. Or the group of older ladies who could use a handyman and also get some thrills in their lives. His streaking incident does not go unnoticed, and soon the bumbling sheriff, played by Craig Robinson (The Office) and his equally confused deputy Joe Lo Truglio from Brooklyn-Nine-Nine are bent on finding the mysterious streaker.

Other Characters

Other characters in Hot Frosty include Katy Mixon Greer, who plays Kathy’s sassy doctor friend, Dottie, who agrees to let Jack stay at her place. And Mel (Sherrie Miller), the woman who gave the scarf to Kathy that started the whole episode.

But Chabert is the star and the character that holds the story together; her innocence, vulnerability, and determination make her character incredibly charming.  Chabert, the veteran Yuletide fixture, has been part of the Hallmark Channel’s A Merry Scottish Christmas, A Royal Christmas, Family for Christmas, Christmas in Rome, and many other holiday classics.

Hot Frosty, written by Russell Hainline and directed by Jerry Ciccoritti, who directed several episodes of Schitt’s Creek, have woven a story of despair, romance, and hope that is sure to tug at your heartstrings.

Closing

And to answer the obvious question. No, we are not giving away the ending.
