It’s exciting to boot up Amazon Prime Video to see what new shows and movies have been released on the streaming service. Unfortunately, with a group of media productions joining the platform, many have to exit it as well. Here are the top 3 productions that will be leaving Prime Video starting in October.
Jennifer Lopez: Dance Again (Leaving Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 1)
J-Lo’s documentary Dance Again shares its title with a chart-topping single that featured Enrique Iglesias and Mr. Worldwide Pitbull. The immersive concert film details Jenny from the Block belting out many of her classic hits and provides a behind-the-scenes look at her first world tour. In total, Jennifer Lopez traveled up to 100,000 miles to perform over 11,200 minutes of music on a whopping five continents and 65 cities according to the doc’s official synopsis.
Ted Kenney, an accomplished producer and director who has directed concert films for the likes of the Black Eyed Peas and Britney Spears, was tapped to both produce the film and direct the concert performances of Dance Again. Dance Again will be leaving Amazon Prime Video on October 1.
Mr. Robot (Leaving Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 5)
The Golden Globe award-winning USA Network crime thriller can best be described as the spiritual sequel to films including Fight Club and American Psycho with a fully immersive narrative and captivating characters. Viewers follow Elliot Alderson, an antisocial cybersecurity programmer who begins working with a group of local hackers in a group called fSociety to fight against corporate greed and the injustices everyday people are subject to.
Alderson played Emmy and Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek who’s gone on to play Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, James Bond villain Lyutsifer Safin in No Time to Die, and nuclear physicist David L. Hill in Christopher Nolan’s biopic blockbuster drama Oppenheimer.
Series creator and Leave the World Behind writer-director Sam Esmail has gone on record sharing that he lifted many aspects of Elliot’s personality from his own life in college. The supporting cast of the series includes Christian Slater (True Romance, Blink Twice) Gloria Reuben(Timecop, Elsbeth), and Carly Chakin (Surburgatory, The Last Song). Mr. Robot will be leaving Amazon Prime Video on October 5.
Billions (Leaving Prime Video on Oct. 2)
The Showtime drama series follows the lives of Bobby Axelrod, the billionaire hedge fund manager of Axe Capital and Axe Global, hedge funds that manage money from investors to invest in companies and trade stocks. When Axelrod, or Axe as many of his colleagues call him is believed to be maintaining his company’s wealth through insider trading, Axe begins to land on the radar of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York- Chuck Rhoades.
Axe and Rhoades are played by Damian Lewis (Dreamcatcher, Homeland) and Paul Giamatti (Sideways, The Holdovers) respectively. Billions’s cast also includes David Costabile (Suits, Breaking Bad), Malin Akerman (Watchmen, Rampage), and Glenn Fleshler (Barry, Joker).
The drama series will be leaving Amazon Prime Video on October 2. In an interview with Forbes Magazine, Koppelman shared what the genesis of the series stemmed from, “We had started to see that billionaires in America were like nation-states in their level of influence and power, and we felt like it was underreported in popular culture… We wanted to explore that.”
