Stranger Things Season 5 officially has a release date! While the specific date is not yet confirmed, we do know that it will be released later this year! Filming has wrapped, and our favorite kids will be back to finish what was started back in 2016, almost 10 years ago.

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is coming soon! Ross Duffer said the following in a lengthy Instagram post back on December 20th last year.
We’ve been telling this story for nearly a decade now. Many of our cast members joined us when they were kids, just ten or eleven years old. It wasn’t just a show for them – it was a defining part of their childhood. They’ve grown up before our eyes, becoming more than actors – they’ve become family. But it’s not just the cast we consider family. Our crew – many of whom have been with us from the very beginning – holds a special place in our hearts.
Their dedication and passion have been the backbone of this journey. Everyone involved was determined to bring this story to a satisfying conclusion. They poured their hearts and souls into it, and we couldn’t be more proud of what they’ve accomplished. We can’t wait to share it with you all next year. Until then – over and out.
Stranger Things Season 5 production began on January 8th, 2024, and was halfway through filming on July 15th, the 8th anniversary of Stranger Things Season 1. “We’re just kind of savoring every single moment,” Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield in the show, said. Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Henry Creel, also known as Vecna, said, “Season 4 was big. Season 5 definitely feels bigger,” while Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, shared that he was excited to film the scenes with “the original four,” of course meaning Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp,) Lucas Sinclair (played by Caleb McLaughlin,) Dustin Henderson (played by Gaten Matarazzo,) and, of course, Mike himself.
Netflix has also revealed the titles of all 8 episodes of Stranger Things Season 5. You might notice that episode 2’s title is partially missing, and I don’t know about you, but I am anxious to find out the rest of it! The titles are as follows – Episode 1: “The Crawl,” Episode 2: “The Vanishing of …,” Episode 3: “The Turnbow Trap,” Episode 4: “Sorcerer,” Episode 5: “Shock Jock,” Episode 6: “Escape from Camazotz,” Episode 7: “The Bridge,” and Episode 8: “The Rightside Up.”
Industry insiders, including reports from What’s on Netflix and Digit, are hinting at a two-part rollout of Stranger Things Season 5, in which the first six episodes might drop on October 10th, 2025, and the final two would wrap it all up on November 27th, 2025, right before Thanksgiving. This release format would mirror Season 4’s, which split the season between May and July 2022. Splitting up the season proved successful, keeping the conversation alive and the topics trending across social media.
Stranger Things Season 5 also features a time jump to the fall of 1987; it will be roughly a year after the events of Season 4, which will help the younger cast members look closer to the age of their characters. Vecna is far from finished, as Jamie Campbell Bower teased that “there’s more pain to come” and that the final battle will be “bigger and more terrifying than anyone expects.”
We will also be meeting some new characters in this new season, including Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and Linda Hamilton, star of The Terminator, though we are unsure of the roles they will play. “I don’t know how to be a fangirl and an actress at the same time,” Hamilton said at Netflix’s Tudum event back in 2023.
While Season 5 will be the show’s last, that doesn’t mean Netflix is done with that world. There are rumors of a spinoff focused on new characters and “completely different storylines” that is currently in development. Not only that, but there is an animated series in the works meant to expand the mythology behind Hawkins, as well as the Netflix documentary and the West End turned Broadway play.

This final season has the potential to make this either the best show some have ever seen or it could ruin everything Netflix and the Duffer brothers have been working towards for 9 years.
