Steam Next Fest’s October 2026 edition opened Monday with over 8,000 playable demos. The event’s press preview landing page lists 8,011 demos available as of launch, according to PC Gamer, roughly double the count from the June 2026 Next Fest.
Steam Next Fest runs from Oct. 19 to Oct. 26, kicking off at 1 p.m. EDT, according to Polygon. The free demo showcase lets developers upload playable builds of upcoming PC games directly to Steam, giving players a chance to try titles before they launch.
Steam Next Fest October 2026 Scale And Growth
The jump to over 8,000 demos marks a steep climb from prior years. PC Gamer reported that Steam Next Fest had just over 1,000 demos in June 2022.
This October event is the third Next Fest of 2026, following editions in February and June. Valve runs the showcase multiple times a year, giving developers recurring windows to put demos in front of players ahead of a release.
Notable Demos And Early Access
Some demos went live ahead of the official Monday, Oct. 19 start time. Polygon reported that Ace & Aro: Heart-to-Heart and Fallgrade were both playable before the event’s formal kickoff. Among the demos drawing attention during the event are Emberville and We Are So Cooked.
Finding Demos During The Event
Players can browse the event’s dedicated hub on the Steam store, where demos are grouped together through Oct. 26.
The size of this edition also lands alongside a separate milestone for the platform. Eurogamer reported that Steam set a major new concurrent user record for the second time this year, a sign of continued growth in Valve’s overall player base heading into the fall.
What’s Next
Steam Next Fest closes Oct. 26, 2026.
