Star Wars Andor Season 2 to Air April 22nd on Disney+

Andor

Star Wars is an epic franchise that has taken the world by storm. Since the first film, many people have obsessed over the adventures of its iconic characters. The overarching story grows with every movie and television series, including Star Wars: Andor. It follows the tale of the man who eventually became a legendary Resistance hero. This show’s many outstanding qualities are the source of praise from critics and die-hard fans. With Season Two on the way, what kind of adventures can we expect to occur?

In a Galaxy Far, Far Away

The Star Wars saga began with the first movie by the revolutionary filmmaker George Lucas. Premiering in 1977, it introduced audiences everywhere to a galaxy locked in a civil war. The two factions in the conflict were the tyrannical Galactic Empire and the Rebellion freedom fighters. At the same time, the flick focused on Luke Skywalker, a moisture farm boy. He joins former Jedi Knight Obi-Wan ‘Ben’ Kenobi in saving Princess Leia from the Rebellion. They also contend with the fearsome Darth Vader while helping to destroy the Empire’s superweapon.

Lucas later renamed his instant masterpiece into Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. It happened after the theatrical premiere of Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. This new installment continued the story of the Rebellion’s battle with the Empire. It also revealed the shocking connection between Luke and his arch-foe Darth Vader. Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi concluded the beloved tale. Despite the closure, more entries appear in the original trilogy, such as Star Wars: Andor.

The Origin of a Rebel Hero

Star Wars: Andor is the prequel to the 2016 movie Star Wars: Rogue One. This series also primarily tells the origin story of the Rebellion hero, Cassian Andor. The show starts with him surviving as a scavenging grifter on the junkyard planet Ferrix. He enlists his ex-girlfriend Bix to help sell a ship part for off-world transport. She contacts her mystery buyer, who agrees to meet him. This character is a secret Rebellion recruit and double agent named Luthen.

Luthen offers Andor a place in the Rebel Alliance but gets turned down. Instead, he hires Andor to help in a heist that’ll further the cause. The plan overall succeeds, and Andor takes his payment and retires to a resort planet. However, he’s framed for a crime and sentenced to prison for six years. He manages to escape and then learns of the passing of his adoptive mother, Maarva. After some outrageous events, the season ends with Andor joining the Rebellion.

Andor’s Story Continues in Season 2

Star Wars: Andor has become a critically acclaimed entry in the 47-year-old franchise. Many people praised the show for its bold direction and for tackling complex themes. It even presented the moral complexity involved in the Rebel Alliance’s formation. Andor elevated the Star Wars series to new heights and left fans, old and new, invigorated. Of course, the story must continue since it was a massive success. Andor is getting a second season on Disney+ in a few months.

The only question is what stories we might expect to see in Season Two. One tale it could explore is the aftermath of Mon Mothma’s daughter’s arranged engagement. There’s also the chance we might see more of Syril and Dedra’s blossoming partnership. It’s possible that K-2SO, the droid from Rogue One, will debut this season. Hopefully, this upcoming arc will reveal more about Andor’s long-long sister. We only know it will lead up to the events of Rogue One.

Final Thoughts

While I have not seen it, Star Wars: Andor sounds exciting and insightful. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since watching the original trilogy during childhood. It might be nice to see the early days of the Rebel Alliance. Also, I’ve seen Star Wars: Rogue One, so it feels natural to witness its beginning. Either way, watch Andor whether you are a hardcore fanatic or a newcomer. The 22nd of April is the official premiere date of this popular series’ second season.
