Daily Devotional Thursday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | September 11, 2025

It’s time for Thursday’s daily devotion. Psalms 23 has been on our radar for the last couple of days. Admiring David’s deeply personal tribute to the Lord increases our knowledge of God’s goodness. Not only is the Lord David’s Shepherd, He’s ours too. Jesus identifies Himself as the Good Shepherd in John 10:14.

Therefore, David is prophesying of the coming Messiah. Today, let’s look at verse 3: “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” In today’s daily devotion, let’s magnify the Lord for His restoration and guidance.

Restoreth My Soul

David continues declaring what the Good Shepherd does on his behalf. David says He restores, which means to renew, recover, and strengthen. This confirms that the Lord is our Healer. He makes you whole. He restores your soul as well as your body. During Jesus’s 3-year earthly ministry, He healed multitudes. He healed mental, emotional, and physical conditions.

Your soul includes your mind, will, and emotions. As God in the flesh, Jesus healed many who were tormented in their minds and their bodies. By the power of God, sickness and disease were eradicated when Jesus came on the scene.  The Bible contains 14 recorded instances that say Jesus “healed them all.” Praise God in today’s daily devotion for Jesus, your Healer, the Restorer of your soul.

He Leads You

Yesterday, we examined how the Shepherd leads and guides us into peace and rest. We also need the Shepherd to lead us in every area of our lives. We are to commit our ways to the Lord and trust Him. Not leaning to your own understanding, you must acknowledge Him in all your ways. The Shepherd is skilled at leading you. There is no need to doubt His leading. He’s omniscient, thereby He knows all things.

There’s a song that says, “Where He leads Me, I will Follow”; commit to follow the Lord wherever He leads you. Isaiah 40:28 says that “there is no searching of His understanding.” Take a moment in today’s daily devotion to meditate on His omniscience.

Paths of Righteousness

The Shepherd leads you in the right paths. You can rest assured that He will not lead you in unrighteous steps. You can completely trust His guidance. Righteousness is one of the Shepherd’s attributes. His earthly prototype was Melchisedec, whom God called King of Righteousness in Hebrews 7:2, and He is righteous in all His ways.

Your Shepherd is righteous, or blameless, upright, and pure. Paul proclaims in 1 Corinthians 5:21 that you are “the righteousness of God in Him.” So not only is your Shepherd righteous, His righteousness covers you. In your daily devotion time, thank Him for leading you in paths of righteousness.

His Name’s Sake

The Good Shepherd knows His sheep, and is known of them, and He lays down His life for them. Just as a shepherd tends his flocks and protects them from harm and danger, our Good Shepherd protects you. It’s amazing how shepherds know their sheep by name, and your Good Shepherd knows His sheep by name.

The Good Shepherd knows your name, and He is your faithful Shepherd who has committed Himself to your care. He has said that He will never leave or forsake you. He stands by His word. His name is exalted above all names. Exalt Him today in your daily devotion time.

Praise His Name

In today’s daily devotion, let’s take a moment to thank the Father for Jesus, our Healer, Restorer, and Leader. How comforting to know that we are not walking this life alone. We have someone who leads and guides us through it. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, was given to us by God, for God so loved the world that he gave us His Son.

Praise God in today’s daily devotion that we can look to our Good Shepherd for restoration and healing. He is the lover of our souls. We are completely safe under His care. In the Living Bible, Psalm 23:3 reads, “He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honors him the most.” That’s why we praise our Good Shepherd.
