Daily Devotional Wednesday Wisdom with Total Apex Media | October 29, 2025

In Wednesday’s daily devotion, John further describes the captivating nature of love. The world’s view of love is opposite to God’s. The world’s love can be selfish, manipulative, and deceptive. Although believers are in the world, they’re not influenced by it. They’re to be motivated by God’s pure love. In 1 John 3:13-14, John reasons that we should develop in God’s love:

13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

In today’s daily devotion, decide to hold on to God’s love no matter what.

Hated by the World

John tells believers they shouldn’t be surprised if the world hates them. The world lives by a different standard. Some people even live without standards. Believers aren’t to be like the ancient Israelites, who desired to imitate the surrounding nations. They adopted their idolatrous, sinful practices and drew further away from God.

You’re not to seek the world’s love or acceptance. In John 15:18, Jesus warned that if the world hates you, it’s because it hated Him first. In your daily devotion, know that the world doesn’t have God’s love, but as a believer, declare that you have it.

You’ve Been Delivered

When you accepted Christ, you were delivered from darkness. You’re in another kingdom; you have a new nature. The love in your heart testifies that you’ve been delivered from the world’s seductions. Like Moses, you’ve chosen to forsake the world rather than “enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.” God sets before you death and life. In today’s daily devotion, choose life.

You Love Others

You choose life when you choose to love others. Believers aren’t automatically righteous. You must work at it by making the right choices every day. When you choose to obey God, you align yourself with His will by walking in love. Love is a spiritual fruit that should be nourished, nurtured, and watered with the word. Love has to be demonstrated, not just confessed.

The proof of the pudding is that you love others. How do you treat others? It shouldn’t be based on how you feel or how they treat you. Love isn’t based on external conditions. In your daily devotion, declare that you love as God does.

Lacking Love

When you refuse to love, you cave to worldly influence. You want retribution or revenge. You haven’t submitted to the word or developed your faith to trust God, to whom vengeance belongs. You hold on to emotions rather than confess God’s word. But he whom the Son sets free is free. God doesn’t force you to love. You must choose to love.

Not loving others invites sin, and according to Romans 6:23, sin leads to death. In today’s daily devotion, proclaim that the world doesn’t influence you. God’s word influences you.

Final Word

John doesn’t shy away from discussing love. Some believers try to ignore it, lessen its importance, or justify their lack of it. However, the sons of God don’t live in disobedience. Believers understand they must walk in love. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love; He proclaimed that love fulfills the law. You’re not to make excuses; you’re to love.

In 1 Corinthians 13:13, Paul says, “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” The Greek word translated as charity means love. Love determines your spiritual growth. You pass from death to life by walking in love. Rejoice in today’s daily devotion, that you live by God’s standard of love.
