Daily Devotion Wednesday Wisdom with Total Apex Media | December 24, 2025

Merry Christmas Eve! Itโ€™s time for your daily devotion. David poured out his wisdom and knowledge on Solomon, equipping him for the colossal role that lay before him. David knew from experience that it wouldnโ€™t be easy. But he knew that if Solomon were prepared, heโ€™d be a wise and discerning king. He says this in verse 11:

11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

In todayโ€™s daily devotion, learn that teaching wisdom leads one on the right path.

I Have Taught You

David was confident heโ€™d taught Solomon well, having instructed him on everything needed for his success. The importance of wisdom is paramount to kings. When Rehoboam became king, he acted unwisely, and the kingdom was split. From that time, there would be a Northern and a Southern kingdom. The Davidic line would lead the latter. All the Northern kings were evil, and many Southern kings were also. Those who didnโ€™t seek or attain wisdom had tumultuous reigns. Decide in this daily devotion that you’ll stick to wise teaching.

The Way of Wisdom

However, Solomon was taught the way of wisdom by David. Submitting to Godโ€™s divine authority was the only way Solomon would prosper and serve as a good king. David knew following God would keep Solomon safe and off the evil path, as he had once trodden.

When the people asked Rehoboam to lighten their burdens, he listened to the counsel of friends rather than the wise counselors whoโ€™d advised his father. As a result, Israel broke from Rehoboam’s authority and formed the Northern Kingdom led by Jeroboam. When Rehoboam gathered an army to force them back to submission, God warned him not to go to battle. So he called off the war.

The succession of kings who followed Solomon showed that many lacked wisdom, affirming the tone of Davidโ€™s words. The stories of the kings are excellent examples of how lives can go horribly wrong without wisdom. Notice in todayโ€™s daily devotion that the importance of wisdom proved true in Solomonโ€™s life and the lives of the succeeding kings.

I Have Led You

David told Solomon that heโ€™d led him. There are many directions a person can lead you. Some fathers have led their sons well, while others havenโ€™t, whether they were absent or inattentive.  David was neither because he knew his instruction and counsel were key. David made it his responsibility that the next king would be thoroughly taught.

Be attentive to those who lead you in the right paths. If someone is leading you on an evil path, cut the strings. Oftentimes, you can be led astray by well-meaning people who may be misguided in their beliefs. Therefore, itโ€™s essential to gain wisdom through studying the word of God to understand what God says about righteousness. In this daily devotion, determine to place Godโ€™s word above that of any other.ย

In Right Paths

Solomonโ€™s instruction taught him the right path. Any mistakes along the way couldnโ€™t be blamed on the counsel he received. David was mindful of teaching him wisdom that Solomon could apply to his life in every circumstance. Thank God in your daily devotion that you will discern the right paths.

Final Word

In Wednesdayโ€™s daily devotion, David says before God and Solomon that he has done everything required to prepare his son for manhood and the throne. This Christmas, celebrate that a body was prepared for Jesus to enter the world as our Savior. And He was for our joy. Therefore, rejoice in Godโ€™s Gift who leads you to walk in the right paths.
