Daily Devotion Wednesday Wisdom with Total Apex Media | December 10, 2025

It’s Wednesday, and time for your daily devotion. It stands to reason that Solomon is the author of Proverbs, as he was the wisest man on earth. 1 Kings 4:32 says he spoke 3000 Proverbs. With so much wisdom exuding from him, his words needed to be archived, compiled, and copied.  And almost 3000 years later, we’re still benefiting from them. Observe Proverbs 4:1:

1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

In today’s daily devotion, know that God has put wisdom within your reach.

A Call to Hear

In verse 1, Solomon assembles his children to instruct them in wisdom. Children are teachable and innocent because they haven’t been indoctrinated into the world’s system. Children trust their father to lead and guide them in the right way.

Not only could Solomon’s children benefit from his wisdom, but his entire kingdom could as well. In God’s kingdom, all His children have access to His wisdom. It’s up to each one to hear His call. In your daily devotion, know that you must listen to your Father’s wisdom because He gives direction and understanding.

Instruction of a Father

In Proverbs 1:8, Solomon says to his son, My son, hear the instruction of thy father.” With land, wealth, and possessions in abundance, Solomon recognized wisdom as the principal thing to pass down to his son. In verse 5, he says, “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning.” Solomon’s oldest son, Rehoboam, forsook wise counsel, and the kingdom was divided under his reign.

Proverbs isn’t the only book of the Bible that contains wisdom. The whole Bible is full of God’s wisdom. Of the five wisdom books, three are attributed to Solomon: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon. Of the two left, Job and Psalms, his father, David, was the main composer of one: Psalms.

It’s possible to be in the presence of wisdom and never attain it, as Rehoboam did. However, it’s good to listen to wise counsel. Thank God in your daily devotion that you will hear your Father’s instruction.

Attend to God’s Word

In James 1:5, God is the Source of wisdom, and you’re to ask it of Him. James 3 describes two types of wisdom. In verse 15, the world’s wisdom is “earthly, sensual, devilish.” In contrast, God’s wisdom is “pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated.” In today’s daily devotion, choose to be attentive to God’s wisdom.

The Word Teaches Understanding

One aspect of wisdom is understanding, which is the application of wisdom. You must know how to apply wisdom skillfully. You must recognize it as the most essential virtue of them all. It is principal or key, according to Solomon, further in this chapter. Understanding is to have discernment or perception. It is also to be sensitive, compassionate, and empathetic.

In Proverbs 1, Solomon says wisdom calls out in the streets. She wants those who are without wisdom to learn from her words. She pleads with those who lack wisdom to seek her counsel. The last verse of chapter 1 ends with this: “But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.” God’s wisdom keeps you safe. Rejoice in today’s daily devotion, seek to hear and understand God’s instruction; it’s transformative and life-saving.

Final Word

In Wednesday’s daily devotion, wisdom is a must-have in your journey with God. Coming from a Hebrew word meaning being wise in mind, word, and action, wisdom cannot be overlooked by God’s children. It’s quintessential, so listen to the voice of wisdom, hear instruction, and attend to understanding.
