Daily Devotion: Feel Good Friday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | November 28, 2025

It’s Friday’s daily devotion. David has been dropping some wise nuggets in our Psalm 34 series. He continues to admonish his listeners on how to obtain life. This is what he commends in verse 14:

14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

In your daily devotion, declare that you will pursue things that bring peace.

Depart from Evil

David begins with a departure from evil. In 1 Peter 3:10, it says, “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil.” Evil speaking is disallowed in the quest for life. Acts of sin and rebellion will move you further away from God.

David advises you to put an end to evil. Lay it aside, leave it behind, and don’t look back. Paul says not to let sin reign in your mortal body. In this daily devotion, say that you are the righteousness of God, so walk free of sin.

Do Good

It’s important to put your faith in God into action. James 2:16 says that if someone needs your help and you utter an empty prayer over them, you’ve missed the mark. You must speak and do what is right. In the parable of the Good Samaritan, the man in need was passed over by religious leaders. Then one from an enemy territory rescued him.

You’re to do good from a heart of compassion, not to impress people. Share the love of God that has been poured out so generously on you. In today’s daily devotion, yield to the fruit of the Spirit, which includes love, joy, and peace, to do good.

Seek Peace

Peace is having a tranquil spirit. When everything is in turmoil, peace will keep you calm. David had many harrowing moments. He could probably feel the blade of Saul’s sword as he ran to escape him. The enemy wants you to feel the heat of his pursuit.

But in your daily devotion, begin seeking peace by speaking God’s word. When the enemy comes against you, declare that no weapon formed against you will prosper. When he tries to frighten you, proclaim that you have God’s peace that passes understanding. If he tells you that you’re sick, say that by Christ’s stripes, you’re healed.

Pursue It

Don’t have a casual, come-what-may attitude toward peace. Actively pursue it. When it comes to the things of God, stand your ground. Minister Nancy Dufresne tells the story of when the Lord said to her that all He wanted her to do was practice peace. She began meditating on the word, denying distracting thoughts, and rebuking Satan’s attacks.

Two years later, she received news that her husband’s plane had crashed and he was gone. Because her spirit was so trained in peace, she remained calm as she navigated through that time. Cultivate a lifestyle of peace. David wrote songs of praise and played his lyre. In Psalm 95, David says, “Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.” In today’s daily devotion, pursue peace despite the enemy’s objective to bring fear.

Final Word

In Friday’s daily devotion, decide that when life gets testy, you’ll stay in peace. You may say it’s not so easy. It’s not easy if you don’t first depart from evil, do good, seek peace, and pursue it. During a violent storm at sea, Jesus’ disciples panicked and woke Him. Jesus took one look and said, “Peace, be still.” The Man of Peace calmed the storm. Like Jesus, walk in peace. Then you can speak to the storms of your life, and watch them become still.
