Daily Devotion Thursday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | November 20, 2025

It’s time for Thursday’s daily devotion. Let’s turn our thoughts to God Almighty, who delivered David from all his fears. Many Christians don’t think about the angels God has assigned to us. Hebrews 1:14 says, “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” David recognized his angelic protection in verse 7:

The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

In today’s daily devotion, know that angelic forces are surrounding you.

Angel of the Lord

David knew by divine revelation that the angel of the Lord was in his midst. It’s believed that the Angel of the Lord is the Preincarnate Christ in the Old Testament. David is aware of the Lord’s supernatural protection in the spiritual realm.

In the Old Testament, the angel of the Lord appears to Hagar, Abraham, Moses, Gideon, and Zechariah. This name also appears in the New Testament. As New Testament believers, we know that God has a host of angels. Hebrews 13:2 says, “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

An angel of the Lord appeared to Zachariah, telling him Elizabeth would bear a son. In Luke 1:19, the angel identifies himself as Gabriel. It is believed that Gabriel is the angel of the Lord who visited Joseph and Mary to bring news of the birth of Christ.

In your daily devotion, know that God sends angels as messengers of good news.

Encamps Around You

The angel of the Lord represents God’s protection for David. He knows angelic protection has been dispatched for him. As a skilled warrior, David is familiar with encampments. He knows encampments are meant to keep a city safe from harm or surround a city for battle. God is our Protector, and His angels are sent to enforce His protection.

In the New Testament, the angel of the Lord awakens Peter in prison and leads him to the city gates. Paul says that “the angel of God” stood by him during a tempestuous storm at sea and assured him the passengers would be saved. An “angel from heaven” ministers to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, and two angels appear to the apostles after Jesus’ ascent, reassuring them He would return.

In this daily devotion, praise God that His angels are on special assignment for you.

Those Who Fear God

The angel of the Lord protects those who fear God. Fear means to reverence, not to be terrified. David realizes that he isn’t the only recipient of angelic protection. It’s for all those who fear Him. Fearing the Lord also means being faithful and obedient to His word. Living in a way that pleases God is another way to show that you fear Him.

He Delivers Them

There are countless stories of God’s deliverance throughout the Bible. God’s people are saved from certain destruction by the angel of the Lord stepping in to deliver them. Peter faced execution the next day, had the angel of the Lord not intervened. God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths, sparing Daniel from death. Angels warn Lot to escape Sodom’s destruction; an angel instructs Paul to tell all passengers to remain on the ship.

In Thursday’s daily devotion, meditate on God’s deliverance through angels. Thank God angels are part of God’s protection plan for you.

Conclusion

In today’s daily devotion, David recognizes God’s protection in the angelic realm. God has many ways of delivering His people. Angels are at His command. God’s angels have appeared unexpectedly and powerfully in the lives of those who trust in God.

It’s possible to encounter angels unknowingly in your everyday life. Rejoice in your daily devotion, that God’s angels are encamped around you, protecting you from harm.
