Daily Devotion For Tuesday Thought with Total Apex Media | October 14, 2025

It’s time for Tuesday thoughts in today’s daily devotion. Psalm 91 has been attributed to Moses, who is the author of Psalm 90. It’s thought that he wrote the eight following, although there is no solid evidence. David has also been credited with writing this psalm. This powerful psalm is a praise of God’s protection and the security believers have in Him. Let’s take a look at verses 1-4.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Whether Moses penned Psalm 91 or David is uncertain. But both men experienced the secret place. Both needed God’s deliverance and protection. Eight times in Scripture, Moses ascended Mt. Sinai to enter into God’s presence. He also met God face-to-face in the tent of meeting. Psalm 63:7 records David praying as a fugitive from Saul, declaring that “in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.”

In your daily devotion time, rejoice that God Almighty is your Protector.

The Secret Place

The secret place is the place where you meet God. You come into His presence to worship, to hear, and to receive direction. God commanded Moses to remove his sandals because he was on holy ground; the secret place is Holy because God is there. Abiding in God’s presence in worship, prayer, and fellowship is the secret place. God invites you to the secret place.

He invites you to come under His shadow. God is your protection, security, and safety. The secret place is your safe place to be alone with God and bask in His love and presence. Praise God in today’s daily devotion that you can go to the secret place.

Refuge and Fortress

A refuge and fortress are places of protection. In biblical times, fortresses were places of safety and defense. They were fortified cities or strongholds that provided security against enemies. God not only protects you physically, but also spiritually. He hides you as you’re being transformed into His image. In Psalm 18, David proclaims, “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer.”

In your daily devotion, meditate on trusting in the Lord. Psalm 46 says, “God is our refuge and strength.” He protects you as no one else can.

He Delivers

In Psalm 10:15, God says,  “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee. “God is a deliverer. He delivered the Hebrews out of Egypt. He delivered Joseph from the pit. He delivered the Hebrew boys from the fiery furnace. And He delivered Daniel from the lion’s den. The Bible records many other deliverances of God’s people.

He delivers you from the fowler’s or the enemy’s traps. Working overtime, the enemy seeks to ensnare you at all times. God’s deliverance is like an eagle protecting its young. In Exodus 19:4,  God tells Moses, “I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.” In your daily devotion, thank God that just as He protected the Hebrews in the wilderness, He will protect you.

He Covers

Covering you with His feathers continues the imagery of the eagle. When God covers you, no evil can harm you. His feathers represent His safety. God surrounds His people. Psalm 125:2 declares: “As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.” Thank God in your daily devotion that He surrounds and covers you.

He Shields

Throughout Scripture, the shield represents God’s protection. He is called our strength and shield in Psalm 28:7. When Paul lists God’s armor in Ephesians 6, he names the shield of faith; for centuries, God has been a shield to His people. He was Israel’s shield in battle, and Psalm 46:1 calls Him our “present help in trouble” today. Praise God in today’s daily devotion that He shields all who take refuge in Him.

Final Word

Let Tuesday’s daily devotion be a time of rejoicing like David, that you dwell in the secret place. Your Protector and Deliverer is God Almighty. He is your Refuge, Fortress, Covering, and Shield. You are safe under His wings. Psalm 91 was written by either Moses or David. They lived in different eras, but both were familiar with the secret place. Praise God that you are familiar with it, as well.
