Former Chicago PD star Sophia Bush is now speaking out about sexual misconduct she endured. The star, who is currently guesting on Grey’s Anatomy, spoke on Monica Lewinsky’s Reclaiming podcast earlier this week. She alleged that she was the victim of sexual harassment on a show she worked on in the past. Although she didn’t name her alleged abuser and the actual show, she alluded to which one it may be.
Sophia Bush’s Past Career
Sophia starred as Brooke in One Tree Hill for nine years prior to her time with Chicago PD. On that show, she played Detective Erin Lindsay and had guest spots in crossovers with Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago Justice. Also, Law & Order: SVU was within the same universe as the Chicago shows.
Sophia spent four seasons on Chicago PD. She was able to get out of her contract, citing bad working conditions. When she first left, she did not elaborate much on her reasons for leaving.
Sophia Bush’s Comments on Reclaimed
Sophia told podcast host Monica Lewinsky that she endured years of trauma from an unnamed male on the set of a past show. The timeline she referred to aligns with her time on Chicago PD, but she has not publicly named which show or any exact details regarding what happened.
In part, Sophia Bush commented:
I had a workplace ongoing trauma revolving around an unending situation with someone old enough to be my father. And I was like, what is happening?
Bush went on to say:
[I had to] struggle with insomnia, to have crippling anxiety as an extrovert who loves people, to be hit with anxiety in a way that I could barely be out of the house. If people touched me in public, I would jump out of my skin. I couldn’t talk to strangers anymore. I couldn’t be looked at anymore… I had to go to work ready for war all the time. I had to learn how to block a scene in order not to be touched.
Bush further commented on her experience with the television network. She stated the network executive called her to apologize. She had previously told Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert Podcast that she was in so much pain and felt so ignored.
So What’s Next for Sophia Bush?
Sophia Bush is currently guest-starring in a story arc as Dr. Cass Beckman on Grey’s Anatomy. At this point, we may not know with certainty to whom she was referring or what occurred, but we wish her much success in her healing journey.
