South Korean actor Song Kang-ho, beloved for his role in Parasite, which became the country’s first film to win at the Oscars, returns with another prolific role. This time, the veteran actor will star in the series adaptation of the highly acclaimed film Inside Men, which premiered in 2015. And here’s all that we know about it.
Inside Men’s Plot
Editor of an influential conservative newspaper, Lee Kang-Hee, uses press powers to support Jang Pil-Woo to the position of a leading presidential candidate. Behind this is a secret deal with the paper’s biggest sponsor. A political henchman who supports both gets caught pocketing the record of the sponsor’s slush fund, resulting in a dismembered hand.
Ambitious prosecutor Woo Jang-Hoon investigates the relationship between Jang and the sponsor, believing it’s his golden ticket to the top. He meets Ahn, who is aptly planning his revenge. The war between one blinded by power, one blinded by vengeance, and one eager for success begins, and the “inside men” are born to expose a dark scheme.
Highly-Acclaimed Film to TV Adaptation
The 2015 film, written and directed by Woo Min-Ho and based on Yoon Tae-Ho’s famous but incomplete webtoon The Insiders became a political action thriller with numerous accolades. In 2016, the film won Best Film at the Grand Bell Awards, Baeksang Arts Awards, Blue Dragon Awards, and the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards.
Mo Wan-Il, who won Best Director for his 2020 series The World of the Married, will direct the upcoming series. As told by distributor Hive Media Corp., the series is in the pre-production stage and plans to begin next year. Which platform it’ll be on hasn’t been disclosed.
Song Kang Ho as Lee Kang-Hee
Song Kang Ho will portray Lee Kang-Hee and be the epitome of corruption within Korean society. Song Kang-Ho is a beloved international icon who has won hearts from the start of his career. He starred in the 2019 film Parasite, which won International Film Feature, Best Director, and more at the 92nd Academy Awards. He also recently won the Best Actor Award for his latest performance in the Disney+ series Uncle Samsik at the Seoul International Drama Awards in 2024.
