With the insane success of Solo Leveling, it was only a matter of time before it joined the best of the best as a representation within the widely popular card game, Union Arena. The drop was announced over on the Official Union Arena page on X yesterday (May 22nd 2025) alongside an announcement stream from Bandai with a request to ‘spread the word if you’re hyped’.
Solo Leveling will join anime foundationals such as Black Clover, Bleach, and Attack on Titan, and is likely to be given the same exciting treatment as other series inclusions, such as new artwork designed specifically for the game, unique stats for all your favorites, and maybe even some foil stamped signatures from the voice actors if we’re incredibly lucky!
As of now, Bandai hasn’t given an official release date for the new packs, but now that Solo Leveling is on the official roster, we can hope to see these new cards available sometime in 2026. The inclusion of Solo Leveling into the game came alongside an announcement for Evangelion, which only highlights how much of a Juggernaut drop this really is going to be. Do you think that Sung Jinwoo will be able to change the face of a brand-new game? How would he fare against the likes of Eren or Edward Alric?
Union Arena’s Rise
Union Arena was released in 2023 to feature a wide range of anime, so you can pit your favorite heroes against one another. It employs the utilization of character, terrain, and event cards in a five-phase per turn based system so that players can strategically build up attacks to slaughter their opponents. The game features all the hard-hitters, from Jujutsu Kaisen to HunterxHunter, to Full Metal Alchemist, and the stats for each character have been carefully engineered to reflect where the character stands within their own anime world.
Sung Jinwoo’s Stats
So, what does this mean for our boy, Sung Jinwoo? Probably exactly what you think. His stats are sure to be formidable, but to get him to the front line where he can really pack a wallop, you have to generate enough energy using action points to place cards, so this isn’t going to be a one-man show.
It will be a very nice nod to the end of Solo Leveling Season 2 to have, say, the Korean S Rankers lined up behind Sung Jinwoo to generate the energy needed to summon him, only to plow through a line-up of My Hero Academia characters, a far cry from the ant swarm they were all sent to destroy at the end of Season 2.
Your Favorites Immortalised
For those who prefer to collect the cards rather than play the game, you’re surely in for a treat. The Official Bandai Card Games channel over on YouTube has just released a video confirming what will be available in the Black Clover pack and booster pack available from May 30th 2025, the new Bleach volume 2 booster pack, and the Jujutsu Kaisen volume 2 booster pack. These will include unique cards with illustrations specifically made for Union Arena and the chance to get your hands on rare triple-star cards.
Solo Leveling
Solo Leveling will surely get a similarly awesome release, with special first-generation boons that will have fans scrambling to get their hands on them. Perhaps, like the previous series, there will even be special Gold cards available in the tournaments announced over on the Union Arena website. Who wouldn’t want to see Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In rendered in that special gold foil, knowing that every time they were played in battle, your opponent will know that you were one of the winners of one of those prestigious tournaments?
Is Solo Leveling Ongoing?
These days, it’s hard to say whether or not something is going to pick back up. Series can take several years to update, as with the long, four-year hiatus for Attack on Titan between Season 1 and 2. For the most part, companies like to keep a hype train chugging on as long as they can, and for Solo Leveling, there really is no issue with that.
Season 2 scored an impressive 91 on Rotten Tomatoes, with fans still speculating months down the line on what will happen in Season 3 if a new season is to be released at all. Luckily, Crunchyroll execs have confirmed that ‘fans will continue to see the story’ and there is speculation that the next Season could be released sometime in 2028 to coincide with the Olympics.
In the meantime, we shall content ourselves with the series’ inclusion in things like Union Arena, so we can ruminate on how Sung Jinwoo might fight against other exciting protagonists in crossover scenarios that would surely break the anime world with just how awesome it would be. Sung Jinwoo vs. Satoru Gojo, Shadow Monarch vs. the Limitless and Six Eyes abilities? Yes please!
