A24 Films released the official trailer for “The Smashing Machine” today, April 29, 2025, and actor Dwayne Johnson has truly transformed in both appearance and performance.

If you didn’t know you were looking at Dwayne Johnson, you would have never guessed it was him. The makeup team has done an incredible job of turning Johnson into a believable likeness of fighter Mark Kerr. Even his manner of speaking is different from what we’re used to from him. This is a different Dwayne Johnson than we’ve seen in his usual films. And fans are here for it. The comments on the trailer on YouTube tell the story. Folks are excited to see this performance, and the film is sure to do well at the box office as a result.
The trailer shows Dwayne Johnson as mixed martial artist and UFC fighter Mark Kerr at the start of his career with UFC. We’re also introduced to Emily Blunt as his wife, Dawn. Her performance is on point as well. We see her supporting him and even crying. In one scene, he’s asking if he can get stronger pain medication, and he’s told he can get Advil. There’s a hint of his fight with Mark Coleman as well as scenes of training and fighting.
But the trailer opens with Johnson as Mark Kerr apparently in a doctor’s office waiting room. He’s talking to a woman who is also waiting, and he tells her his eyes were injured fighting in UFC. She recognizes what UFC is and says someone is trying to ban it. She also asks if they hate each other when they fight. His reply is, “Absolutely not.” And that’s convincing.
Wrapping it Up
The Smashing Machine Trailer with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt makes the film look like a winner that Mark Kerr can also be proud of. In fact, he had this to say on Instagram:
