Skrillex to Go All-Out With a 5-Hour Set at Red Rocks

Skrillex

Legendary EDM artist Skrillex is due to play one of his favorite places – Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. His show, set for Tuesday, May 13th of this year, will go from 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Skrillex is known as an artist to perform long shows, due to the amount of his music and variations of songs, but this show will likely be even longer than others.

What Type of Music Will Skrillex be Performing?

Most people who are familiar with Skrillex know that he is a prolific composer and very heavily into Electronica/EDM music. However, Skrillex (real name Sonny Moore) has worked on many collaborations of music with dozens of artists. He has produced scores for movies and other video projects. Skrillex can pull from a huge library of music and has alternate versions of his songs – and remixes of those as well! There will be more than enough music to fill up five wondrous hours.

Skrillex’s collaborations with From First to Last (his former band from the early 2000s) and many other artists have given him plenty of material. He remixed songs from Korn, worked with Diplo, Justin Bieber, Ellie Goulding, and Dog Blood, just to name a few. In 2012 he set the record for the most Grammys to be won by an electronic artist. Skrillex continues to make creative recordings to this day.

What is Red Rocks Ampitheatre Like?

If you haven’t been to Red Rocks, then you are missing out! Set in Morrison, Colorado, this beautiful amphitheater is carved into the sandstone formations. The shape, material, and other atmospheric elements serve to augment the music performed here. It was officially dedicated in 1941 to become an outdoor venue.

Skrillex is just one of many artists to take advantage of its beauty and acoustics. Rush, Jimi Hendrix, Phish, U2, John Denver, Yo-Yo Ma, The String Cheese Incident, and Johnny Cash are merely a few performers to have played the amphitheatre. It is said the sound at Red Rocks is amazing as the rock formations enhance the musical experience.

Red Rocks has been a favorite and much cherished place to see live music over the better part of the past century. The fact that Skrillex has chosen Red Rocks to be a venue where he can play an extended set is a true testament to both the amphitheater’s acoustics – and his talent.
