Oftentimes, critics of the Catholic Faith ask believers difficult questions that reveal doubts about the faith. The unbelief regarding the Catholic faith is disheartening, but Skeptics Answered addresses many of these probing questions.  Skeptics Answered tackles the most common arguments and questions skeptics pose and gives intelligent answers. Therefore, the answers are useful to believers.

Kennedy demonstrates in Skeptics Answered that Catholicism is based on concrete evidence and explains how believers of the Catholic faith can respond to even the toughest critics. The book is particularly useful to youth who are faced with challenges to their Catholic faith.

The book is organized into three useful sections on reasonable faith, knowing if God exists, and answers to common objections. Some questions include: What does God look like? If there is a God, why is there suffering in the world? And can you prove that God exists? These are useful questions that many Catholics face from skeptics of the faith.

D. James Kennedy was the senior minister of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the featured speaker on The Coral Ridge Hour television program. He died in 2007. He was the author of more than thirty books and is the founder and chancellor of Knox Theological Seminary.

Some Popular Questions about the Christian Faith

Here are some popular questions of the Catholic faith, along with some answers. First, do animals go to heaven? The answer is maybe.  This question is often asked by children. There is hope that your pet, and all creatures, will rise again.  The reason you can have this hope is because from the very beginning of time, in the original state of holiness (the Garden of Eden) there were animals. So, even though animals do not have eternal spirits.  An animal dies when the animal dies, but there is no telling what might happen at the resurrection of the dead.

Second, what are the holy days of obligation in the Catholic church? Catholics are required to go to Mass on holy days of obligation. There are ten days of holy obligation in the Catholic church. They are Christmas, Epiphany, Ascension, Corpus Christi, Holy Mary Mother of God, Immaculate Conception, Assumption, St. Joseph, Saints Peter & Paul, and All Saints Day.

Third, why is there suffering in the world if there is a God? This is a popular question pointed at Catholics. There is suffering in the world for two primary reasons. First, there is evil at work in this world, and evil causes bad things to happen. Second, because of original sin. It was bad for humanity when Eve ate the apple from the forbidden tree. In that one moment, sins entered the world, and bad things happened because of it.

Finally, is there life after death? The answer to this question is professed by Catholics at every Mass. An emphatic yes, Jesus said so. St. Thomas Aquinas said that when we die, if we go to heaven, we will have the body of a 33-year-old. The other options, according to the Catholic church, by the way, are hell and purgatory.

Conclusion

Skeptics Answered provides clear and well-argued answers to questions that all Catholics face. Thus, the book is useful. It is useful to everyone because non-believers have these questions about the faith. Maybe by reading this book, non-believers will begin to believe. This book will also be useful to people who have not been exposed to the Catholic faith.
