‘Shrinking’ season 4: Scott Foley joins remarkable cast
Scott Foley is heading to therapy on Apple TV. The actor has joined the recurring cast of “Shrinking” season 4, where he will play one of the show’s therapy patients, Deadline reported Thursday, Oct. 1. He joins series stars Jason Segel, Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams.
Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein and Segel created the comedy, which centers on Jimmy Laird (Segel), a therapist still grieving his wife who starts ignoring the rules and telling his clients exactly what he thinks.
Scott Foley’s role in “Shrinking” season 4
Deadline, citing sources close to the production, said only that Foley will play a patient. Nothing else about the character has been released.
Apple TV renewed the series for a fourth season on Jan. 27, one day before Season 3 premiered. That season ran weekly through April 8. The show has earned multiple Emmy nominations, including individual nods for Segel, Williams and Michael Urie, according to Apple. According to Deadline, the “Shrinking” season 4 ensemble includes:
- Returning cast: Christa Miller, Luke Tennie, Urie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley
- Recurring newcomer: Judith Light
- Also in the cast: Christian Slater and Karen Gillan
- Guest stars: Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick, Cobie Smulders, Jeff Daniels, Michael J. Fox, Candice Bergen, Sherry Cola and Isabella Gomez
Warner Bros. Television produces the series for Apple TV. Lawrence and Goldstein both have overall deals at the studio, as does Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Executive producers are Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, Ashley Nicole Black, Bill Posley, Abraham Higginbotham and Emily Wilson.
Foley stays busy
“Shrinking” is one of several projects on Foley’s slate. Deadline previously reported that he signed on as a series regular for “Young Americans,” a Hulu pilot in which he plays President Judd Burchfield. He is also set to reprise Sean Kelly in the second season of ABC’s “Scrubs” revival, the same series that brought back John C. McGinley.
His recent credits include starring in and executive producing the Amazon series “It’s Not Like That,” a recurring part on ABC’s “Will Trent” and a return to the “Scream” franchise for “Scream 7.”
