Well, look no further! Here’s a list of shows to binge if you loved Bridgerton and are patiently awaiting the release of more episodes.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

https://gty.im/1247133297

Queen Charlotte takes place within the Bridgerton universe. The series follows a dual-timeline story. The first timeline is a prequel to the original series and chronicles Queen Charlotte and King George’s love story and rise to the throne. The other timeline takes place in the modern-day Bridgerton universe that the audience has come to know and love.

This storyline is set between Seasons 1 and 2 of Bridgerton and focuses primarily on the stories of Violet Bridgerton, Lady Danbury, and Queen Charlotte. One thing I love about Shondaland is the care and emphasis they place on female friendships, so it’s nice to see how a lot of Queen Charlotte highlights the relationships between these women and really devotes a lot of attention to their stories, which turns out, have been intertwined since childhood. It adds even more of a backstory to characters that we already know so well.

The Great

Described as a historical satire, The Great, starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult, is a fictionalized version of the love story of Catherine the Great and her marriage to Peter III, the Emperor of Russia. The series matches the humor that Bridgerton has, so if you like levity interspersed throughout moments of seriousness, The Great might be a good match for you! It’s more of a comedy than Bridgerton, but you’ll still get loads of drama, along with the stunning costumes and set design that typically comes along with period pieces.

The Empress

The Empress is a Netflix series that follows the life of the Emperor and Empress of Austria, Elizabeth and Franz Joseph. When the series starts, 16-year-old Elizabeth is a Duchess who meets and falls in love with Emperor Franz Joseph. Once married, Elizabeth initially struggles to navigate the complicated relationships of her in-laws and all the politics that come with being a member of a royal family.

Vanity Fair

Based on the William Makepeace Thackeray novel of the same name, Vanity Fair follows an ambitious woman who attempts to socially climb her way into the highest echelon of English society, willing to do anything to get there. According to the synopsis, Vanity Fair centers on a young woman who, “in her efforts to advance herself, her manipulation, merriment, forbidden romances, fighting, and dancing catapults her into the court of King George IV, all while breaking hearts and losing fortunes along the way.” Vanity Fair stars Olivia Cooke, Tom Bateman, Charlie Rowe, and Claudia Jessie, the latter of whom later goes on to appear in Bridgerton as well, eventually landing the role of the fifth Bridgerton sibling, Eloise.

The Buccaneers

The Buccaneers is a historical drama that revolves around several American women who decide to play the odds in high-society London during the debutante season. Throughout their adventures, the women have to learn how to navigate cultural differences and English society’s differing approaches to relationships. According to critics, “The women’s eccentric and extroverted nature contrasts with English high society and centuries of tradition as they navigate cultural clashes and strict social codes while dealing with interpersonal relationships and potential suitors.” This show is a mesh of American characters juxtaposed against the backdrop of Regency England. What could go wrong?
