Sean Combs Diddy Trial 2025: New Updates and Everything We Know

Everything to Know About Sean Diddy Combs' New York Arrest, Diddy Trial

All one has to do is say the word “Diddy,” and everybody knows who it is, thanks to the ongoing Diddy Trial. Up until a little over a year ago, he was mainly known as a producer in the music industry. Diddy, or Sean Combs, would help make careers, encourage rappers to advance in the music industry, and produce artists such as Mary J. Blige and Justin Bieber. But that all came crashing down in the autumn of 2024.

Brief Recap of Charges

Without going too much into depth here, as this is chronicled here, the 2024 charges against Sean Combs were:

RICO charges (Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations) – 1 count

Sex Trafficking – 2 counts

Providing transportation to engage in prostitution – 2 counts

Combs strongly denied all of the charges. The trial, which occurred in the Southern District of New York, began May 12, 2025.

From the start of the trial until the verdict, which came on July 2, 2025, multiple witnesses were called. Two of the key witnesses were Cassie Ventura and Kid Cudi. Ventura had been involved with Diddy from 2007 until 2018. She provided important testimony in relation to prostitution and trafficking.

Cassie Ventura said that the former rapper-turned-producer and businessman controlled much of her life. She said she was subjected to three and even four day-long “freak offs,” in which Diddy hired male prostitutes and provided copious amounts of drugs like ketamine and MDMA.

Other witnesses included Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi), a rapper who had briefly dated Ventura. Kudi testified that Combs had broken into his house, locked his dog in the bathroom, and fire-bombed his car in 2011. There were three other key witnesses, including one woman who had worked as an assistant to Combs.

Diddy Trial Attorneys

The Diddy trial saw its share of famous lawyers, both prominent and legacy attorneys. The prosecuting attorney team had Maurene Ryan Comey, the daughter of James Comey.

On the defense side, the Diddy attorney “dream team” was certainly not lacking. The lead attorney was Marc Agnifilo, whose wife, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, represents United Healthcare’s suspected shooter, Luigi Mangione. Another attorney on the case, Terry Geragos, is the daughter of famed attorney Mark Geragos. Her father, Mark, represented the Menendez brothers, Michael Jackson, and Scott Peterson. Also on the defense team is Brian Steel, who requested to join the Diddy trial defense. Steel is best known for his representation of rapper Young Thug.

The Verdict and Future Sentencing

On July 2nd, the jury concluded that Sean Combs, AKA Diddy, was guilty of the two lesser prostitution charges. They acquitted him of the trafficking charges and RICO. Combs will stay behind bars until his sentencing hearing, which is scheduled to take place in October. He will also receive credit for time served, since he has been incarcerated for almost nine months.

Potentially, Combs may be facing anywhere from two to five years in prison. At this point, it’s too early to say which way it will go. He is additionally still dealing with civil lawsuits and the possibility of more to come. Reactions to the verdict have been mixed. While Diddy still has his share of loyal supporters, there are people like Megyn Kelly who are completely incensed. Her remarks can be found here.

Whether you like him or hate him, it looks as though the rap mogul will not spend a lot of time in jail. Let’s hope he learns from this – and sticks to producing music and ditches all of the… um, partying.
