Lil Nas X Remains in Custody Through Weekend After Arrest and Hospitalization
Famous pop star Lil Nas X was arrested Thursday morning and held at a Los Angeles County jail, according to county jail records. The musician, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was arrested after an incident where he ran at police officers who were responding to calls regarding a naked man running on Ventura Boulevard.
Rosario Cervantes, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department, stated that “the 26-year-old artist was briefly taken to the hospital for a suspected overdose, but was discharged and taken to jail a few hours later”. She provided no further information about Hill’s condition.
The Incident and Arrest

According to Los Angeles County Sheriff records, Hill was charged and booked with a misdemeanor of obstructing a police officer and was being held at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys. Video of the incident and arrest was posted to TMZ, showing Hill walking around the 11000 block of Ventura Boulevard in only white underwear and cowboy boots just before 6 am. A law enforcement source states Hill also punched an officer twice in the face during the encounter. Representatives for Hill have not made a public statement as of yet.

Hill rose to fame as Lil Nas X in 2018 with the hit single “Old Town Road” with fellow artist Billy Ray Cyrus, which won 2 Grammys. His first studio album, “Montero”, was released in 2021, and he has an upcoming album titled “Dreamboy” that is set to be released later this year. Hill has made statements about how smoking weed heavily as a way to cope with stress and the struggles of the industry: “But then I started feeling more connected with the universe, and taking everything as a sign”.
