According to USA Today, the wrestler died of a heart attack. USA Today stated the following:
“The WWE icon died of acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, according to the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center documents obtained by USA TODAY Sports. The cause of death was noted in the cremation approval summary report.”
While the Clearwater, Florida police force did conduct a “standard death investigation,” there is no suspicion of foul play in Hogan’s death.
Health Problems that Led to Death
The Pinellas County Forensic Science Center documents stated that Hogan had a history of atrial fibrillation, which is “an irregular and often very rapid heart rhythm,” that “increases the risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications.” In addition, he had leukemia CLL, which, according to USA Today, is “a type of cancer that affects white blood cells and bone marrow.” In short, Hulk Hogan was not in good health.
What Caused Hulk Hogan’s Heart Attack?
His heart attack was likely brought on by his atrial fibrillation. The Mayo Clinic’s website warns that while atrial fibrillation isn’t usually life-threatening, treating it is urgent because it can bring on heart attacks or strokes. It looks like atrial fibrillation brought on Hogan’s heart attack. After his attack, the Morton Plant hospital pronounced him dead at 11:17 AM on July 24. The WWE world mourns his passing, as do his millions of fans, but as the world mourns, we can also raise awareness for heart health so other deaths like Hogan’s can be prevented.
