Daily #1: Harvey Weinstein Seeks to Overturn New York Conviction, Citing Juror Intimidation
Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who was convicted of sexual assault, is now saying his conviction should be thrown out, citing the fact that some jurors claim they were harassed and pressured into finding him guilty. He filed the motion on October seventh and is reaching, clearly. Being in jail may not agree with him, as during his trial, he was hospitalized. All of the hubbub, his conviction was overturned in April on one count of sexual assault. He was retried in June 2025 and found guilty on one count of a criminal sexual act, with the jury declaring a mistrial on the rape charge.
The fiasco of Weinstein’s trials has been nothing short of a spectacle. There was massive confusion on the jury. One juror stated, “If I could have voted by secret ballot, I would have returned a verdict of not guilty on all three counts. Without the intimidation from other jurors, I believe that the jury would have hung on all three counts, and this was not a fair trial.” It is unclear what will happen at this point. At this point, Weinstein is still waiting for sentencing on the criminal sexual assault charge, which carries a possible sentence of up to 25 years in prison. The judge will decide by December 22 whether to set aside the verdict.
Daily #2: Diddy Speaks to Daughter Love After Sentencing – E and he was convicted Emotional Phone Call Revealed
Rapper and Producer Sean ‘Puff Daddy” Combs was sentenced to four years in prison on prostitution charges. He tearfully apologized to his seven kids and to his mom, Janice Combs. The sentencing happened on October 3. “I want to apologize to my seven children,” Combs said, before turning to mom Janice Combs, according to NBC News. “My mother, you taught me better. You raised me better.” He added, “I will never jeopardize my family. No matter what anybody says, I know now I am truly sorry for it all.”
Combs is 55 years old now. For his conviction, the judge sentenced him to 50 months in prison, totaling over four years, plus five years of supervised release and a fine of $500,000. The day before delivering their verdicts, the jury told U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian they were unable to reach a consensus on the racketeering charge due to “unpersuadable views.” Subramanian addressed the jurors and encouraged them to continue their deliberations. A verdict was reached hours after deliberations began the next day.
