LA County Confirms Identity of Celeste Rivas; Death Remains Under Investigation

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the identity of the victim on September 17.
Celeste Rivas had been reported missing in March 2024 when she was just 13 years old. Her cause of death is labeled undetermined and is pending further investigation. The body was found in a state of decomposition, suggesting she had been deceased for some time.

Timeline of Events

The Tesla, registered to 20-year-old singer David Anthony Burke, professionally known as D4vd, was towed on September 6 after being abandoned on a Hollywood street.
Neighbors reported that the vehicle had been left unattended for over a month. Two days later, tow yard employees alerted authorities to a strong odor coming from the car, leading to the grim discovery in the vehicle’s front trunk.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the investigation into the body found in D4vd’s Tesla.  No arrests have been made, and the circumstances surrounding how Celeste Rivas ended up in the vehicle remain unclear. D4vd, who is currently on tour for his “Withered” world tour, has not been named a suspect. His representatives have stated that he is cooperating fully with the investigation.

Additional Details

Celeste Rivas was described as 5-foot-1 with wavy black hair and was wearing a tube top, black leggings, and jewelry at the time of her discovery.
She also had a tattoo on her right index finger that read “Shhh…,” which helped confirm her identity. Rivas’ mother has reportedly told media outlets that Celeste had a boyfriend named David; however, no connections to D4vd have been confirmed.

D4vd owns several vehicles, and this Tesla is one of just one of them. It has not been determined or reported who had access or who was using D4vd’s Tesla when it was abandoned. The investigation into Celeste Rivas’ death is still ongoing, and authorities are still working to piece together the events leading up to the discovery.
