Sandisk is the leading brand for Micro SD cards and their adapters. If you have a ROG Xbox Ally or a ROG Xbox Ally X, Sandisk is the best choice for expanding your handheld’s storage. With storage options including 512GB, 1TB and 2TB, these SD cards can carry many games, regardless of their storage. While many gamers prefer physical copies for game preservation reasons, most games are digital-only. Most AAA titles such as Call of Duty or Madden take up at least 80 GB of storage, which can quickly add up on consoles with 500 GB of storage and don’t have a Solid State Drive or don’t have expanded storage.
What Sandisk Offers
Sandisk’s WD_BLACK™ C50 Storage Expansion Card for Xbox, which comes in SD Cards with 512GB, 1TB or 2TB of storage and also serve as an SSD for your ROG Xbox Ally or ROG Xbox Ally X. Simply put the card inside the handheld’s expansion port, format the SD card (which allows it to be used for the handheld) and you’re now able to install as many games as possible on your handheld.
If you’re worried that having your games installed via SSD will hinder the games’ performance, don’t fret. The Sandisk’s WD_BLACK™ C50 Storage Expansion Cards are “Designed for Xbox,” which means that these SD cards will perform just as well as if they were installed directly onto the handheld’s hard drive.
If you need extra assurance, Helen Ashcroft of TheGamer writes (in a sponsored post) that the SD cards not only align with Microsoft’s quality standards but are “specifically designed to allow full use of the Xbox’s Quick Resume technology,” which “enables the seamless switching between multiple titles to continue across the card as smoothly as it does on the internal drive.”
What Are These Xbox Handhelds?
The ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X are successors of the Asus ROG Ally and the Asus ROG Ally X. While the Asus ROG Ally handhelds were released in 2023, the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds were released on October 16, 2025. The retail price for the ROG Xbox Ally is $600, while the retail price for the ROG Xbox Ally X is $1,000.
