On the heels of her widely successful hit “Espresso“, Sabrina Carpenter has returned to the Billboard Hot 100 and claimed the top spot with her new hit “Manchild”.

Sabrina Carpenter’s hit-making continues

After being occupied by Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” for thirteen consecutive weeks, “Manchild” has swiftly moved into its new home and plans on staying for a while. The massive hit is the lead single from Carpenter’s upcoming album, Man’s Best Friend.  Released on June 5, 2025, the upbeat pop single marks the Pennsylvania native’s first number-one debut and second chart-topping single overall, following “Please Please Please” from her 2004 Grammy-winning album, Short n’ Sweet.

With its infectious country-pop vibe, the song lightheartedly shows Carpenter’s humorous side, as she comically describes an immature ex-boyfriend.  This song speaks to the many females who have unwillingly traveled down this road.  Written by Carpenter, Amy Allen, and Jack Antonoff, the song was produced by Carpenter and Antonoff.  Released on June 6, 2025, the accompanying video features Carpenter hitchhiking to an unknown destination.  Along the way, she encounters an array of whimsical male characters who try to help her with unorthodox forms of transportation. The video was directed by Gal Muggia and Vania Heymann.

Number-one and still climbing

To date, “Manchild” has received over 27 million streams, massive radio airplay, and over 20,000 units sold during its first week in the U.S., including over 14,000 vinyl copies. With yet another massive hit under her belt, Carpenter’s star effortlessly continues to rise. Carpenter’s new albumMan’s Best Friend, is set for release in August.
