Top Gun, you know it, you love it, and it’s getting another installation! That’s right, Top Gun 3 is in the works! Tom Cruise will be coming back as Maverick, too. If you don’t know what Top Gun is, first of all, watch the movie. They’re great, at least the second movie is. The soundtrack for Top Gun: Maverick is a banger, too.
The series is about a man named Maverick, shocker, we know… Anyway, it’s basically Maverick going through flight school and trying to get along with his instructor. You can Google the plot if you want; we can’t stop you.
Now, let’s get into Top Gun 3. It’s on the way, it’s being made, and it’s gonna be great.
Top Gun 3 Plot
This article articulates it better than we could. But here’s a basic summary of said article, just to make things easier. It summarizes the first two Top Gun movies, Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick, as we’ve said. Now, because of the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, we know that the plot is fully figured out. Then, they talked about why it wasn’t hard to crack the plot for these movies.
It isn’t the action that drives these movies, it’s the emotion in them. After that, it was more of a summary of Top Gun: Maverick. And then, after that, it was about how they wanted to recreate the relationship Maverick and Goose had. Which meant Top Gun 3 would have to balance the emotion of recreating that bond using Rooster and/or Hangman. Now, that’s just from a singular podcast; let’s talk about The Today Show.

Christopher McQuarrie explained on the Today Show that it took 35 years to think of Top Gun: Maverick, so that and Days of Thunder are all they’re really talking about. He’s also practically always working on some sort of movie in some way.
That’s pretty much all that the article was talking about, so what does this all mean? It means that Top Gun 3 is in the works, they have a plot, they have a script, or, at least, an idea for a script. Overall, this movie seems to be very interesting, and we will hopefully have more in the future.
